Default Using a Network Adapter for my PS3?

I just wanna make sure I understand how to use this thing before I buy it. First off, my computer is downstairs and my PS3 is upstairs. I want to use a network adapter, specifically this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER to get internet on the PS3. So, if I'm following it right, all I need to do is to connect one box to the computer, and one to the PS3 and it'll get the signal for the internet, right?

Do you not have wireless router?

Seems very unusual for any ISP not to provide a wireless network.

But to answer your Q yeah that should work.

Your connection would be one to the PS3 the other to the router (not to a PC though)

Yes, a powerline kit should work. But you should be aware that it is possible that you won't see the same speeds as a good wireless setup due to interference of some kind (although rare), or the fact that the 2 power sockets you are using are not on the same circuit. I've read about people claiming turning on certain electrical things can affect the speed.

Much of this is old information though, so a new kit may have less issues, idk And wireless isn't immune to interference anyway (depending on your circumstances).

The best thing is a dedicated wired connection, Gbit router and cat6 cable. You won't have any interference at all, and if any choke point exists it will be a router/modem issue or your ISP.

Alright, so bottom line, if this is all I have, this is all I need, right? I don't need anything besides this adapter and cables?

Well like I said it should work, but it isn't impossible that it won't...like if the 2 sockets are on different circuits. I would buy it from somewhere I could return it, but that's just me.

    A router wouldn't go amiss

another words the device used to get you online needs to have more than one cable port otherwise it's just a modem rather than a router that can only be used with one device unless you get an external hub
