If the games have no CDDA then there is no APE files, though there should still be a cue file bit it is not needed anyway
If you read the guide I linked it has more detail

I just read it and as far as I can tell I have done everything right. I even downloaded the cue file but that didn't make any difference.
What version of ePSXe are you using and are you getting the opcode error from running the bios on it's own also

I'm running 1.9, but the earlier versions give me the same error.
I'm sorry, I promise I'm not trying to be difficult, but what do you mean run the bios on it's own? Like outside of the emulator? Because if I do that my computer wants to find an app that will run it.
Also, when I was just choosing the destination for my games, it crashed with the same opcode error. I hadn't even selected something to load.
You sure you not being arkward and just not looking
Anyway that is in ePSXe
File > Run BIOS
It's under the other Run options
Just to double check what Run option are you using?

Oh, I see.
I've been using run ISO. If I click run BIOS, epsxe just shuts down, then after about 30 seconds the opcode error pops up.
The issue is something other than ePSXe itself or you have a bad bios image set up I am inclined to think it is an issue with your PC though.
But I will attach a good bios image to this post, just extract it to the bios folder and make sure the ePSXe config points to the correct bios image dump [Config > Bios]

Same error code using that bios.
I wondered as well if it wasn't my PC but I wanted to check other options first. Is epsxe compatible with windows 8?
That's all the internal options I could think of and you already looked at the plugins and alt versions of ePSXe :/
ePSXe works just fine with Windows 8 yeah

Weird. I'll try it with my other machines I guess. I'd rather have it work on something slower than not at all.
It works on my less powerful work computer perfectly.

Yeah as I thought the issue is with the machine rather than the emulator.
It is supported on Windows 8 systems both 64bit and 32bit OS versions.

Both are windows 8 64bit. The only big difference I can think of would be the graphics card.
A graphics chip set or card would not give you the opcode only a corrupt system can do that
system drivers (could include graphics, but very unlikely), viral infection ect.
conflicting software is a possibility also but it would have to be active software (software that is running at the same time)
It has a higher chance of being a system related issue that would be fixed by restoring your windows install, but try updating all the drivers first (GPU/Video one is possibly one of the more important ones) and any system updates, also update Direct X (including the Direct X 9 update, even though you should have atleast DX11), DotNet and C++ that are by Microsoft, get both 32bit (x86) and 64bit (x64) versions (might as well update Java while your at it, though ePSXe does not use Java but it does come in handy for other software and emulators, that is not by Microsoft)
