If you can not get that working I may look for another way to do that for you, maybe joy2keys.

    EDIT:-

    jtk374en.7z

Joy2keys lets you assign keyboard keys to your joypad, handy for games and emulators that do not support joypads directly (including games ran through DosBox) anyway for this you can setup joypad X to a keyboard key and set Automatic shooting to max that is 30, that is the exact same this as autofire, just hold down the button and it will autofire constantly, 30 is just the speed not the amount of repeats, you only need to do that with the button you want and leave the rest blank, text in notepad or something to make sure the correct button to on autofire.

Make sure you pad is plugged in before running this

I know at least that works and have used it myself.

I just did not have time at the time to go find that for you.

Please post back regardless so I do know it is working for you

After trying this on the jump rope at the beginning of the game I believe it will work for what I want it. It cannot however be used to complete the jump rope mini-game because the timing changes multiple times as you play. But that's fine as I was only using the jump rope as a test for the auto-fire.

With that being external I would do 2 setups in joy2keys both to alter the same button, 1 with autofire on and one without so you can switch between them without changing pad plugin settings and without resetting ePSXe

just save the setups named so you can instantly know what they are.
