Default Trouble getting a game to run (FF Tactics on ePSXe)

Hi, I had a question about getting a game to run on the emulator and one of the moderators directed me here. I apologize if I'm not making myself clear. The game is located through the link at this post:
    http://www.epforums.org/showthread.p...Tactics-NTSC-U

And this was my original message:

Hi, this is the first game I've tried to download. I downloaded the game first before getting the emulator. I had to run around in circles a little bit, and downloaded zlib1.dll and SCPH-1001.bin and now i finally got the Sony loading screen and the Memory Card/CD Player screen.

When I open Final Fantasy Tactics (USA).bin, the emulator opens and a command screen pops up, but I can't get into the game. Isn't the file supposed to be a .exe file? Did I accidentally change it when I was messing around? Or am I missing something else. I tried changing it to a .exe file but my computer won't let me. Should i reinstall the game?

Please let me know if there is any other information I forgot to add.

Oops.. Looks like I figured it out.

The game itself can come in a few different formats (.iso, .bin/.cue, .img, etc), but they don't come as .exe. Only the emulator itself should be a .exe.

Assuming you're using a fairly recent version of ePSXe (1.6 or later), after going through the initial setup wizard when you first run it, all you should have to do is click File > Run ISO and then double-click the .bin file for your game. If it just loads to a black screen you might need to mess with your graphics plugins settings, under Config > Video. I'd recommend using the P.E.Op.S Soft Driver for Final Fantasy Tactics. If you don't have it already, you can get it here; http://www.pbernert.com/gpupeopssoftwin118b.zip

To install the plugin, just extract the .zip file to the plugins folder in your epsxe folder. Then you should be able to pick it from the Config > Video menu.

If none of that works, I would recommend maybe trying a different copy of the emulator. This copy here should work fine for what you're trying to do; http://www.emuparadise.me/Sony_Plays...OS+Plugins/104

EDIT: Totally missed the "looks like I figured it out" bit meh.

"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

For future reference always open disc images via the descriptor file, be that a cue file or a ccd file depending on the format of the disc image

You do it that way mostly for games that use CDDA tracks, the most common issue with ePSXe games crashing is due to CDDA tracks not being read

For those games that store CDDA tracks outside the main Binary image (*.bin *.img) it is best to convert those back into a single bin+cue instead of multi bins+cue or a single Bin+Cue+Lots of Wavs or Img+Cue+Wav/Bin files for CDDA
