O.K. yeah so I tried putting the wav files through before and after in a different program, and it just fails the process saying that the files aren't a recognised format?

You didn't read my post correctly I said there is a way to extract proper wav files that will be recognized in other converting software, the original method with CDMage is raw format that only some software can read like LameDrop
You need to change the CDMage settings for Audio as described in post #13

O.K. so it's working right now it seems, though the process has only succeeded in shrinking it overall by about 40mb or so. I guess the others were done by someone who actually knew what they were doing but I can't do it or the game it's just a bigger game than the others I have that someone else did for me, and I was only trying to save a bit of space anyway.
Thanks for trying to help as always
Other games don't have 34 audio tracks
The data track is apx 57 MB
The audio track in total are before converting apx 420 MB
The audio tracks after converting using 80% quality using VBR v2.00 are in total apx 55 MB

Please register to be able to view these links. there you go just rename the mp3's so they match the iso, or even quicker just rename the iso to Shining Force CD (1995)(Sega)(PAL)(Track 01 of 35)[!].iso it shouldn't matter if the iso is PAL or NTSC, they both use the same CDDA tracks

O.K. cool thanks that seems to have done the trick, though now I have no music playing during the game oddly.
I read other people having problems with this game and the solution being the renaming of the music tracks to follow on from the name of the iso (like you said), I have changed the name of the iso to be line with the mp3 tracks, so is there a setting or something I am missing?
I don't emulate much on my PSP but I will do a quick test tomorrow maybe.. not so sure I'm not that active over the weekend and it's it's 1 am now here so I'm off to bed for now.
At the latest it will be Monday though

O.K. thanks for helping me when you get the time too, appreciated
I do wonder if there is somewhere that has a collection of Sega CD games in the same format so they would all take up less room, that would be great as I hear the Sega CD doesn't have a great deal of good games, but a handful of them are well worth checking out.
I will try to test this today, first what exact emulator are you using, just so I don't say it is working but then it fail for you because you are using something I am not.

O.K cool, and I am using Picodrive v1.51
I have been following this thread... I may try to do this with the game Popful Mail. I know this game runs good in picodrive on psp. I just want to try out the method in this thread. I will report back with the size reduction after I do this. -- If you haven't tried the Sega CD game Popful Mail, there is no time like now.
Twenty Minutes Into The Future
Yeah not had a great deal of time to get round to this and just lost my memstick though I should have a 2GB one around that should do for testing
I am going to guess though that it just uses a certain file naming method that may not match up with what this method does
EDIT:- that must not of been updated for years I have that version on my 2GB memstick to start with, just need to copy the game.
Just doing a quick mp3 convert first, lamedropXPD used, because it's just too easy
That was too easy to figure out the file names need to end with the track no. the first track does not need the track number in the file name but work with 01 as well
e.g.
gamename.iso
gamename 02.mp3
gamename 03.mp3
or
gamename 01.iso
gamename 02.mp3
gamename 03.mp3
I will correct the guide later in a new post

A new guide has been posted for doing this, it uses the tool that comes with picodrive but I also included the missing programs needed, no need to use a command prompt either it's just drag and drop with the version I uploaded, that originally comes with 1.80 of picodrive for the GP2X (It's homebrew handhend console if you are wondering)

Thank you. I have had to describe the command line method one too many times to other people. When I was doing this process there didn't seem to be any tutorials as simple as yours. Great job.
Twenty Minutes Into The Future
I will certainly try it, thanks!
Do you think we could get a section for compressed Sega CD games or would that be kind of not wanted? Be kind of a cool service along side everything else we have here
I may do that myself on the forum but in general it is best to keep CD images in raw format so there is no quality loss.
It will take some time to create all of those though.
Then some more to compress them all.
Then some more time to upload the set.
It would take longer if I didn't already have these as disc images, but I do tend to keep the best quality not re-sampled versions
