Have you tried the same scart on your PSone that you used with the PS2?

P.S. still don't know what you are talking about without a vid or something that we can see what on earth you are talking about

Possibly just an issue with the laser that can be cleaned and fine tuned (yeah I know it is new, but even new consoles back then some required tuned to get CD-R's to read)

That is fine I don't care about the quality I just want to know what you are talking about.

I think it is worth grabbing the game again and verifying it with http://redump.org/disc/344/ & http://redump.org/disc/345/

Please remember that the PS2 emulates the PSX/PSone rather than actually having one built into it, so may be able to correct problems that the PSX/PSone can not

There is a slight very very slight pause then just ahead

It shouldn't be like that but it may just be the PSone laser having issues or is was a bad disc image to star with or bad burn/discs

for it to be every few seconds it has a high chance of either media being hard to read that can be both the discs and the drive

P.S. the PS2 has better error handling by the way and is emulated

That is normal for the burning speed and is not an issue, it is more like it was a bad burn or a bad disc image to be honest than a fault with the drive, a bad burn can be cause by memory problems while burning, but often it is just a spec of dust on the CD-R or the laser or a minute scratch or something else on the disc.

Even the best looked after discs and spindles of CD-R's can collect dust and get minor scratches that you may not be able to see by eye

still think it's the PSone rather than anything else though with it being every 9 seconds rather than constant or just at certain points

A bad disc or image would cause it to just mess up at a certain point or even loose the picture quality as it would go like if you lost a bit of signal on a digital channel rather than just every 9 seconds it just has to catch up playing FMV

Very little chance very very unlikely but yes possible

Because of the way it is doing it it has a very very high chance of being a problem with the PSone

P.S. a CD brand has little to do with anything as all brands do various quality media, but to be honest this is also unlikely

The same applies for the PSone, the pot is in a slightly different place mind (lol at the bit he says don't electrocute yourself)

This is how you measure the POT of a disk drive.
The "perfect area" is often different for each system, you'll have to Google it. The area for the PS1 is around 800.

You are best off using a multimeter so you have something to go by, going nuts with the pot and turning it too far will break it, so nudge it a tiny bit at a time and use the multimeter in between, before testing it out.

    You think wrong totally

RGB SCART is the best picture quality

Normal AV is lower quality [Yellow video] (It's not vastly lower by the way)

Both are fine for NTSC display, but SCART is the only one that will auto fix the display on an older PAL only TV set giving you a colour NTSC signal at 60Hz, Normal AV on a PAL only set will either give a black a white image @ 60Hz or will just have a scrambled B/W image @ 60Hz

The problem has nothing to do with the video cable used

I play NTSC games all the time on my PAL PSone/Saturn/PS2 all via RGB scart, I have also done this with my Dreamcast (I use VGA now), My GameCube (I use my Wii instead now via VGA) my Xbox (I use component now though)

    I don't have this issue.
