That I don't know no.

I got my PSone chipped on the day the PSone model was released, chipped by some guy on a market, that I never seen again after (odd I know)

A modded Xbox (original) [can be softmodded without too much effort but you may require extra equipment to do that] can play PSX games very well via emulation
A Dreamcast can play backups without any modding there are a lot of PSX games that got a Dreamcast version, even a few PS2, XBOX & GameCube games are originally on the Dreamcast

Of all the console Sega Saturn and up over the Dreamcast is the only one that does not require modding in any way to play backups (U.S. Dreamcasts do have certain versions that prevent this though, I have a guide up for that though), the Dreamcast sorta comes between the PSX and a PS2, closer to the PS2 hardware wise and some of the games prove this with ease.

The XBOX was more powerful than the PS2 but the PS2 was more popular with players and game devs and the XBOX sadly died out before it's time (I never liked the XBOX controllers though so I use a PS2 to XBOX controller converter, comes in handy for playing PSX games as well as playing XBOX games on it) [Note that playing PSX games on an XBOX is done via software that emulates the PSX rather than what the PS2 does that is half software and half hardware, so the PS2 does half emulate the PSX as well as half done via hardware that is very close to what the real PSX done, a PSP plays PSX games via emulation also, though officially made]
