GENS emulator Netplay Issue

Anyone know how to create a game room with GENS emulator? Every time I try to make a room, instead of the drop down list of all my roms, it just shows me random unreadable characters. Is there anyway to set up the emulator's default rom location path? Please, I would very much like to try out the GENs netplay.

I would just use Kega Fusion instead overall it's a better emulator anyway for Mastersystem/GameGear through to Sega/Mega CD-32X (Fusion is the only emulator to support CD-32X games)

Yes, but me and my friends tried the netplay feature on Kega Fusion. For 1, it's P2P so I had to open ports. And 2, we kept d-syncing no matter what netplay settings I try. I like Kaillera cause at least it's some sort of server and much more stable.

Have you tried older versions of Gens or newer versions (as you never stated the version used) gens.me being the official site.
