    Default MAME Help

Hi, whenever I try to run certain roms on mame, it says it is missing chd files. I have already put them with the roms, and those games were working fine on older mame versions. The neogeo games and area 51 are some of them. Is there anyway to fix this?

for the neogeo games you should try by getting a new neogeo.zip maybe

From my understanding MAME is very picky concerning what game dumps you have, and what version of MAME you use to run them. Contrary to most emulators, a lot of time newer versions of MAME just won't run older games that have "incomplete" dumps, while particular older versions won't care.

I would generally recommend looking for packs that contain both the emulator and roms together, since they're usually versions confirmed to work right together. Torrent sites in particular are your friend here.
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

I had lots of problems running neo geo games under mame. I used another emulator called neoragex which ran perfectly fine. It's fairly old but it does the trick, so I recommend checking it out.

If you use something like www.mameui.info you can check the roms within the program (it's called audit), so just audit the game you are running into problems with and will report if any files are missing or have the incorrect crc

The biggest problem with mame is that with every update some roms also get new dumps so not all the old roms will still work

Don't get me wrong I still think mame is great it's just it is a pain to update the roms with every update, but this is part of it improving with every update, they also use the best dumps possible at the time.

P.S. chd compression is another thing that is changed, mame should come with tools to handle/update those though, just read through everything first

Mameui Guide - great tutorial but the links are outdated

I could never get Neo Geo games working on Mame, so I switched over to Kawaks. A few games are not compatible, like Neo Turf Masters because of missing raster support.

Never had an issue running Neo-Geo in mame but the roms and bios do need to be correct for x version of mame that gets a lot of people (I guess I can figure things out for myself quicker that some do though, or something like that)

I don't have anything against FBA or KAWAKS though both are very capable emulators
