    Hi,

Im trying to make Wipeout 3 special edition work on my Mac pcsx reloaded emulator.

The problem: When I try to play wipeout 3 everything works perfect except for the CD MUSIC sound. I think it doesnt load properly and it gives a cracking sound instead. its really annoying because the game becomes unplayable. I've tried turning on and off different options in the preferences settings of the emulator. I managed to just turn of the CD MUSIC. and now the game plays properly with sound effects! (buttons and shooting) but no music whatso-ever.
I have a few games that work just fine, but for some reason with race-games it always comes with a whole bunch of track files and they are mostly in an .ape extension.

I managed to convert all the .ape files to .wav format.
And I converted the bin.ecm image to both an .iso and an .bin file.

I also downloaded the missing .cue that the map doesnt contain, and I've put it in there.

    I have daemon lite.

    Now,

I have tried starting the game under every different circumstance, mounting it with daemon lite, by running the CD. I also tried running the ISO with both the .iso file as well as the .bin file.

If I play it as a cd, the game doesnt even get passed the loading screen, really annoying.
In all other cases the cracking sounds come back. I really miss the music. playing wipeout 3 in silent mode is really a no-no.
How do I merge these .wav soundtracks into the game? Is there a way to add them to the .bin or .iso file? or to mount them all as one CD on daemon lite? I'm sure I have it almost fixed, theres just some missing link.

By the way Ive spent daaaays trying to figure this out by reading other posts on the forum all over the internet , Mac is also limited with its programs so I couldnt find any decent programs to help me with this. any ideas?

Thanks for your help! I will really appreciate it if you guys can help me!

I even managed to get all the .wav track files into .bin files through another download of this game where they were already included but as .bin files.

I don't use a mac so can only give you limited support... but...

Look in the sound settings or sound plugin settings and make sure CDDA is enabled, this can also be in the CD plugin/settings aswell

CDDA = Compact Disc Digital Audio

I think the problem isn't with the settings. It's trying to blend in these .wav or .bin track files into the game so that the emulator can read them.
Because when I start up the game all the sound effects correspond right uptil the moment the menu screen appears. I remember there must be some music playing in the background at this point. but instead of playing music the emulator probably freaks out and blasts out this distorted cracking sound, not able to play the music because it cant find it probably.

So I have the whole track list in the map. but they cant read then because I can only load 1 file with the program. same as daemon lite where I can load only one file. what do I do with all these .wav files? I did however, looked into the sound settings and tried putting this off/on just to make sure. the only option that worked was just to wink on the NO CD MUSIC option. and then its just a silent game. playable. but not music.

To make sure the sound in the CD image is working try mounting the cue in D-Tools like you had done before and try a music CD player with

Providing the you converted from Ape to Wav fine that should play just fine, this is just to ensure it is not a problem with the disc image

P.S. if that does work though you can try making a new CD image from the D-tools drive if you like

Bin+Cue format though you still need to load via the cue or the software reading it will only see it as a single DATA track disc and not see the CDDA tracks

It can still just be an issue with the emulator itself as well, but from what you have said it sounds like you are pointing the software just to the bin file instead of the cue file that will enable CDDA tracks as well as the DATA tracks, pointing to the bin file will result in no CDDA tracks and be just read as a DATA track

I'm a little bit confused with your description. I've succeeded in mounting the .cue file. and it opens up two 'cds' one is the game and one is the soundtrack for the game. so it does recognize it. but when I hit the run CD button is doesnt get passed the loading screen. Ive had it load up for over 10 minutes and the game and the title menu just doesnt come. I dont understand it. I really have the feeling thought that if It would pass the loading screen at the beginning it would work just fine. my only other choice is to open the .bin file but then it gives me this cracking sound again. aaaarghhh!! so frustrating!! why doesnt it work??
Also now I'm totally at a loss... what exactly is the difference between a .bin, an .iso an a .cue file?? are they all roms? I give up..........
