yeah...topic. My laptop isn't strong enough to run ps2 games and my ps2 pulled the whole "dead laser" thing. On top of that, sony charges more to repair a ps2 than gamestop charges for a new one. So yeah, those are out of the question.

Try posting there, you may get better answers. That is the Sony Console forums ( the link above ) You want to run a ps2 emulator on a ps3 console, hope this helps a little =s
Don't forget the THANKS button on your way out!
I will move this post shortly
there is no PS2 emulator for the PS3 only a few older models of the PS3 had PS2 compat built into them, there is possibly a way to sign the games or mod the PS3 but I know nothing of that and wouldn't recommend it either, unless it's an offline PS3 that never gets used to play games online or never used to download games (Loves Playstation Plus, tons of free games ) mod the PS3 and you can kiss goodbye to online activity
there are however other mothods of the PS2 running software if you can get it softmodded with freemcboot, that you can't do yourself but someone else could install the softmod onto your PS2 memcard that then in turn lets you play games from your PC or from USB, it's not a perfect method but it has lots of reports of it working
myself yeah I still use DVD+R's and use no other methods so thats about all I know of that method

Out of curiosity what are your PC specs? Who knows, you may be able to run at least a few games at playable speeds. Worth a shot anyways.
Just buy another ps2, they're pretty cheap.
Or replace the laser in your non-functional console.
