    Default ps2 ISO to cd

Can I burn an ISO onto a CD and then play it through a console (PS2) without harming the console (it's a friends!)?

CD based games tend to wear out the laser more quickly.
Better off getting DVD converted versions of CD games, or converting them to DVD yourself (if possible, I don't think all games can be converted).

So use a CD game as a last resort, the laser will last longer using DVD's.

And the console has to be modded to play backups, of course.

    Spoiler warning:

Nope not all games can be CD to DVD converted, been doing a few over the last week or so to make them work with the FreeMCboot + ESR softmod

If it is a freinds PS2 and they don't have it modded then forget about playing burned games

If it is modded, let us know how it is modded or what is used to play backups, though in-general CD-R have a good chance of damaging the laser, then again any poor quality media can do that, basicly anything that the PS2 will struggle to read will damage the laser in the long run.

There is a world of difference between CD-R's and pressed CD's that games come on originally

Basicly the PS2 laser allows playing of original PSX CD's, Music CD's & CD-R Music, Original PS2 DVD games and DVDVideo and DVD+/-R Movies aswell so the media the PS2 can handle best are pressed CD's and DVD's and CD-R's, DVD-R's and DVD+R's alot of PS2's can't handle DVD9-R/+R media and older models can't seem to handle DVD+R's

Games do take a bit more reading than music CD's and the console needs to be tricked in some way to run games from -R/+R media, be it CD or DVD

    EDIT

I think I went on too much

If you want to burn a ps1 game use CD-R
If you want to burn a ps2 game use DVD-R
Just don't burn with dvd+r or cd+r, those could harm your ps2 (depending on which version you have)

don't burn on DVD-R depending on the version of PS2 you have

    Basicly

newer PS2 models go great with DVD+R & DVD-R, DVD+R is best though, old models go great with DVD-R and can't read DVD+R's (You have to be very very carefull with DVD-R media most of it is junk, Vibatim is a good bet, DVD+R's you can get away with more they are a higher quality media in general, the only reason older models do not support it is because DVD+R media is newer than those old PS2's)

There is no such thing as CD+R media and CD-R can damage a PS2 no mater what the model is, specially if the laser is poor quality to start with or if you use rubbish CD-R media

PS2 games come on CD aswell as DVD so CD is not exclusive to ps1 games in the slightest
