LOLOLOLOLOLOL
And that's my break over again. Back to the limitless glory of working. Blegh.
Oh well, it's not too bad a job. See you guys in another hour and a half or so.
Obscure, yeah.
Uninteresting, to some.
Forgotten, definitely, since I haven't been to the Toribash forums in a long time. Probably because my web browser takes an hour and a half to load it
...
It's scary that I know about a lot of obscure games
As far as I know.
HP: 454 / 1816
All I'd like is something really modest like a 1.6 Escort

Yeah, I did a bit of searching and a few guys have dropped the Calibra engine into the Barina SB (Corsa B) here.
In the old days you could get away with shit like that without an engineer's cert, but now reg and insurance is pretty particular about mods.
Old mods are ok...like really old Fords/Holdens that originally only had small block V8's that were converted to big blocks ages ago.
Technically you even need a cert for say; pulling an original gearbox out of a Cortina and dropping in a Toyota 5spd with an adaptor kit.
But things like that you can still sort of get away with.
You just have to inform the DVLA of the engine replacement so they can change the logbook, otherwise it stays as a "1.4" or whatever.
Where you can insure it as a 1.4 and drive it, if you want.
That doesn't sound very logical.
I mean; insurance sounds ridiculous there (or maybe impossible in some cases, I dunno) for some stuff for some people...but you can put a powerful engine in a car that wasn't designed for it, and still drive it legally?
You can try doing that sort of thing here, but if the cops catch you driving an obviously modded car without a cert they just impound it for full inspection. Plus fines, etc.
Not to mention the fact that if the emissions gear has been tampered with and detected (and it probably will be on inspection) then the EPA will give you a massive fine too.
It's just not worth it.
You mod a car, you get a mechanic to sign off on the work, you pay like $600-700 for an engineer's cert.
Then it's completely legal.
Well, for people without vehicle restrictions anyway...if you're on P's there are even unmodified cars you aren't allowed to drive
That's what I assumed anyway. No mechanic has to inspect it and give you a certificate or anything like that. I think you just have to tell the DVLA it's now a 2 litre as opposed to a 1.4 and all is grand.
Of course I don't actually know anything, so what I say isn't fact.
Buy one and see what happens I guess.
Tell the DVLA it's now a 2l and they'll say "those vehicles didn't come with a 2l from factory".
That's what would happen here.
And you have to tell Vicroads the new engine number asap (I dunno what the actual time frame is atm) after a change...so there's no avoiding it really.
Well I suppose there is a reason the owner/converter didn't tell the DVLA about the new engine.
