Default Can't seem to get ePSxe to full screen to work properly.

I'm using ePSXe 1.7 and Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.9 to run my Final Fantasy IX.

Been dying to re-play this game since years ago because my old television was crap and it's display was all greenish, thus spoiling my entire experience with the game. Right now I'm trying to get the best of the graphics I can with Final Fantasy IX, but I'd love to be able to play it in full screen.

The problem is that I can enter full screen, no problem. But when I alt tab out and go back in, my screen sort of becomes cut and it only shows 1/4 of the game. I have to then alt + enter again to bring it to windows mode, and alt + enter again to bring it back up to full screen mode.

    Here's what I mean

That doesn't seem too much of a hassle for me, but you can get xfire and use the in-game web browser if that's the reason you want to constantly alt-tab in and out of the game.

As for how to fix that particular problem, I think it can be fixed but am not sure how, wait for response from other members.

Edit: To use the xfire in game browser for epsxe refer to this thread.

Is there any reason you can't simply hit the "Esc" key to get out of the fullscreen mode, do what you need to do and then hit Continue under Run near the top? While I haven't really used the particular video plugin you're using there, this usually works better for me than alt-tabbing out of the game.
"I think that the problem with this video is it is highly derivative of many popular bands within the genre. Although when viewed on its own merits, it does have a deeper groove. However what it has in groove, it lacks in originality. One can't help but be reminded of such bands as Pearl Jam, White Zombie, Suicidal Tendencies and other bands that bear the mantle of so called "Alternative Rock". One is even reminded of Lorie Anderson when she wore curlers. Hehehmhm! This video speaks less to the heart and more to the sphincter. In closing, I think Korn would do well to learn more from -"

Hi guys. Thanks for the quick replies.

Yeah, it really isn't a very big hassle, but I was just hoping there was a fix to this.

Masiowk, no particular reason really, just that it's a little bit more troublesome. I have my laptop connected to my television so I have 2 screens. I play my FF-IX on my TV, while I do the rest of my stuffs on my laptop.

So sometimes when I'm playing, some of my friends talk to me on MSN and I usually just scroll my mouse to my computer and click on the chats. Or I might just go around browsing some FAQs and stuffs. When I do this and click back on to my full-screened ePSXe, it crops out my ePSXe as seen above. This happens quite often, so I was thinking if this is a common problem, or is it a configuration that I've messed up.

I think I can help. Are you running Windows, and what version?

Edit: I'll be out for a bit, but go try configuring it so the tv is the primary monitor and put other apps on the laptop as the secondary screen. When I do this on my desktop and TV, it switches back automatically when I disconnect the TV.

    Don't Alt-Tab just Alt-Enter

The problem is that you are not exiting full screen it is still trying to run in full screen over everything else, this is partly due to bad programming and partly due to buggy dual screening but just use Alt-Enter and everything should be ok

If you are dual screening you could just use the same desktop and keep ePSXe windowed, if you do this the right way it will look like you have ePSXe in Fullscreen on your TV anyway, alt tab can be used without any sort of issues then

    Hello Skullpoker,

Some way or another, this did the trick. I don't really know what I did, but I followed your instructions and it worked.

I set my windows mode to 1360x768, and set my full screen mode to 1360 x 768 as well. I ticked the "Use window size in fullscreen mode", and also set my TV as my primary monitor.

I tried it and it worked. I can now play my FF IX on my TV in full screen and browse the web on my desktop. Thank you.

Zorlon, thanks for your kind help as well.

    Thanks all for your time.
