Default I'm not sure how to boot up Sakura Taisen

I've only recently started using emulators and so far have only seen .RAR files, but I just downloaded Sakura Taisen disk 1 for the Dreamcast and it didn't use any .RAR files.
There is a .GDI file, two .BIN files, and a .RAW file and I'm not sure how to use them. Any help would be appreciated.

Also if it helps, I'm using the Null-DC emulator

It's the same for emulators that use disks instead of carts. You just run the "disk image", now I don't know which one of those is your disk image, and you might need to convert your image format to be able to play it on an emulator. I haven't used Null-DC, so other might be able to help you better.

It would also help if you note the full file name of those GDI, .BIN, and .RAW files you downloaded alongside their sizes.

I tried loading up the GDI file, I just get taken to the system menu and I'm told that there is no disk.

As for the actual file names and size they are Sakura Taisen v1.010 (2000)(Sega)(NTSC)(JP)(Disc 1 of 2)[!].gdi at 1kb, track01.bin at 690kb, track02.raw at 1,696kb, and track03.bin at 1,157,970 kb.

Also if it helps any, the icon that appears next to all four files is a blank sheet of paper

Is it possible the file is bad? I don't know much about the emulation though so I can't really help but if it is the file I have the game and could dump it.

Ah okay, I know nothing about this stuff because I've had no need to emulate.

I could dump and test our copy.

I use the default image option to run full GD games.
    Options->GD Rom->Select Default Image

At Dakotah: The icon that shows up is the default for any unassociated file, nothing to worry about.

Null-DC was one of the highest rated emulators for that game though... So should I just go with the Sega Saturn version instead?

Sakura Taisen (J) should work according to one of te compat lists, though very little on how you get it running, but you may need to set the region, this is under Options then NullDC Settings then System Region

The Sega Saturn versions seem to be more compatable via emulation, using SSF

I changed the the systems region and it starts working but it crashes before the title screen.

I think I'll take your advice about SSF being more compatible, but I still would love to know why it crashes.

What BIOS file are you using? Get this All Regions one if that's not the one you're using.

EDIT: btw there'e also a PC release, though you can't get it here in emuparadise. Search your favorite torrent site if you want it.
