I was just wondering..
How long would it take to get a working US rom from the time it is released here in the United States?
How long does it usually take is what I'm trying to ask..

on the same day it gets released in the US is the usual time
can be longer though but often by just a few days
copy protection in a rom may take a lil longer to get cracked though
The game may also get re-dumped at a later date

Ohh Alright. I was really wondering how long it took to crack any game really.
Ive always wanted to do it, but have no clue on any of it. I just think it would be nice to help out and support the passion of emulation.
Not every game requires cracking and most protection is cracked in just a few days, sometimes even in just a few hours of being dumped.
This is just for the NDS dumps as for other console dumps and copy protection it can be anything from a few hours to a few years.
Put it this way it was less than 10 years back that a couple of SNES games got cracked to be playable and there are still some games out there that have never been dumped or cracked... actually just remembered a the Dreamcast Bleem!cast was only just cracked not that long back maybe a year now.
Back to the DS though those are comming thick and fast and alot of protection methods have already been cracked fully so very little effort is needed to adapt Anti Copy Protection for the next protected game
One of the best tools around is something called "DS-Scene Rom Tool" that can patch roms and will tell you if a patch is available for your game (the prog auto updates itself online and looks for new AP patches aswell as other things)
Grab DS-Scene Rom Tool from

Wow. I had no idea that you could crack a game that easily....
I actually have that tool already! had to grab it and patch Pokemon Black for Desmume a while ago. Since then, Ive patched every DS rom I have.
I would have never thought it would take a few hours for some, and then again a year for others.
Is it to say that some games are protected by a higher AP, and others are protected by a "lesser" AP?
Who does the protection for games... Is it the software developer, or a 3rd party service?
God.. I have sooo many questions.
ON this question it really depends on who the developer is I know Sony does a lot of their own copy protection but as an example of a third party copy protection I recently bought the witcher enhanced edition for PC which is developed by CDProjekt and published by Atari but I had problems with the copy protection after a quick google search I discovered this is a common problem and I had to download and run a copy protection update from Tages the(third party) company that did the copy protection.
There is a difference between ignorance and stupidity ignorant people can be taught
stupid people need to be shot.
Ohhh. I figure if it is just a hand full of companies, then knowing who does it would increase the odds of cracking the copy protection. But then again, its probably all algorithms, and stuff I don't understand.
Its kinda wack you had to download a cp patch for a retail game... I've never had the problem myself, but I wonder if its common across other games?
Retail games CD's and DVD it is uncommon that Copy Protection would prevent the game being ran from it's original media
