Can't get a game to run

Ok, so I have the ROM to 2 games, Sinistar and Saturday Night Slam Masters, they are still zipped, but they are not on the list. I can't play them at all. It says that the ROM cannot be found. Yet they worked before. Do I need a new version of MAME? or what is the deal?

Any help would be appreciated.

If you have renamed any of the zip files then that is the issue

Well I haven't updated my MAME, or renamed them, they worked before, and now they don't even show up on the list.

I would try re-installing the same version of MAME again

Well you can't install MAME really. You just open it.

I downloaded MAME XT, and it is still doing the same thing.

What are the zip files called that contain the roms?

They should be in the roms folder

For sinistar, it keeps telling me that Decoder.4 and Decoder.6 are not found. yet the game worked before.

sinistar and slammast are the master roms, all over versions will use files from the master roms aswell as there own versions of some of the files

I have the latest verison of MAME, from the MAME website.

Thats your problem then your mame version is higher than the rom version

if you got your roms from us downgrade mame to MAME 0.143 instead of MAME 0.143u9

or look for the latest rom updates that will include your missings roms

Yeah, but even on MAME Plus, which I never updated, they don't show up. So something else must be wrong or something.

I will try a older version of regular MAME and see what it does.

Ok, I got Sinistar to work. Saturday Night Slam Masters (which i redownloaded from this site) does not work.

Also 3 Count Bout is another game that won't work. It keeps mentioning a CHD. I know that on this site I can download CHDs for Area 51, Maximum Force, etc and they are big files.

Yep you require the big files you also may require a few bios files for certain system like Neo-Geo ect...

Ok, well 3 Count Bout didn't have a CHD to download. Also I have all the BIOS from the BIOS pack on this site.

Atleast I got Sinistar to work. I guess if I want to play Saturday Night Slam Master, I can either go after the Neo-Geo version, or the SNES version. I kinda wanted to review both the Arcade and a home console version, but that might limit me.

Same with 3 Count Bout, I will have to go after the Neo Geo version.

I will keep trying again tomorrow.

the best thing to do is to audit your roms and make sure there is nothing missing and everything is up to date

MAME is a pain the best of times, fantastic when it works but a pain if something is missing

Well what I am doing now is redownloading all of them. I am downloading from this site. So I will see what happens.
