Question Help! [SB] Standalone neogeo/neogeocd dreamcast games

    Hello everyone,

Ive run into a major problem. Im trying to create a self booting standalone neo geo cd game (Zentrick) for the Dreamcast. I have done this 2 years ago once with great success. I recently found the disc scratched and tried for hours looking for a FAQ on how to make a selbooting standalone neo geo cd game.Ive found many..but im not understanding it. I cant remember how i did it before!
can anyone help me with easy instructions on how to do this?

Also how can i make a [SB] Standalone disc of Pochi and Nyaa on the MVS for dreamcast?

Thanks for all your help! I really love this site!

i know it may be n00b to ask but i got to learn again somehow..

I have the neo geo rom, i have the SBI, i have neo4all. using those 3 whats steps do i take to burn a SB neogeo DC game?
I use alcohol 120%. how do i make a disc that SB neo4all then load the game (standalone neo4all)? I dont like swapping disc...
Thank you very much for any help! , its been bothering me for days!

edit- this is how far I got-
1- Extract NeoGeo CD data track and add 1st_read.bin, config.cfg and splash.bmp (edit it for customizing).(what do I use to extract data?)
2- Add 'neocd.bin' (NEOGEO/CD Bios file image).(add this to the extracted data?)
3- Rebuild data track with all data.( what do I use to rebuild data?)
4- Toast data track and audio tracks on same cdrom session. (toast? how would i make this into a cdi?)

This is what was on my original SB neo geo DC game Zentrick

1 extracting data from a Neo-Geo CD image.... CDMage will let you do that or ISO buster or you can mount the thing and copy the files from there.... there may also be a special Neo-Geo CD Rom file extractor I don't rememeber
    2 kinda obvious
3 create a selfboot CD Image with the above as the data, but keep the session open and the disc open (do not close that session)
4 preferably keeping the session open you add the CDDA tracks (toast is a Mac prog you can ignore that, DJ can do the same) [I'm sure that SBI can add these anyway when you create the disc image, I would need to check it out myself]

I will do a lil digging tonight after work

If your scratched disc can be read in a PC without issue then you can just use IMGBurn to re-rip the game and burn back to a new CD-R aswell , I used to do that from time to time and the games in question worked again... This will not always work though

ImgBurn will need to be the latest version (the latest supports Dreamcast selfbooting, multi sessions)

    Download Links:
Links are hidden from guests. Please register to be able to view these links. Grab the above and install it

Open the install foder and drop your WAV files into the cdda folder

Set it to use Alcohol format

    Hit extras

    Hit Add CDDA tracks

the use the text boxes to add your info... e.g path to folder with game data, name of disc...

then hit Process... there you will be asked what tracks you want to add

P.S. the above does come with it's own help file so it is worth while reading through just incase I missed something

Anyway the software is easy enough to use so I'm sure you won't have too much trouble getting to grips with it

I also recomend coverting the Alcohol image into a cdi, easy way to do that is to mount the alcohol image with D-Tools lite and using discjuggler (free version will do) and create a cdi from the virtual drive

Or you can if you like use ImgBurn to make a bin+cue (latest version supports dual session bin+cue formats (dual session = selfboot))

    thank again man!
right before you posted this is fooled around with bootdreams. I made a mdf+mds files and burnt that using alchol120. The game booted just like I wanted and played great! The only problem now is the sound. I seem to get random sound effects instead of the BG music for the stage, I left the sound files as wavs in the folder Cdda in C:/bootdreams
great program bootdreams is! any help to finah by getting the sound perfect would be great!

Is this just on the first stage or all stages, I don't remember if you need to dummy the first track or not, you may also need to re-code the wavs with a different birate, the help file will have that info though

its all stages and i think it plays the bgm wrong, like it starts playing the small sounds (in the same order all ways) checking readme

edit, should it be data/data or audio/data with custom cdda?
    thanks

    edit-when i selected dummy file 700 mb my mds+mdf was 776 mb
