Default Looking to buy a dreamcast...

This may not be the right area, but I'm honestly unsure as to where this would go. So, anyhow, here goes:

A local shop has a Dreamcast for $35. Includes one controller, console, and all of the cables/power adapter or whatever is needed to play it. It's manufacture date is 1999.

Is this a good deal, and can I play burnt games on it? From my understandings the answers are yes and yes, but I'd really like to make sure as I'm a bit short on cash at the moment. Thanks

Go with your gut, you will not be dissappoint.
And yes, it can play burned games, One of my recommendations is Jet Set/Grind Radio.

ask to plug it in and see if all works first(if they'll let you) if all works proceed as planned.

They'll give me a 90 day warranty on it.

One quick question though, to play burnt games what all do I need to do? Anything? Also, how expensive are memory cards, and are they needed?

Just burn the game and pop in.
If some games don't work, find a different region of the same game. That will be playable due to it being a selfboot, allowing that game to be region free. You can get a VMU for are 5 to 7 bucks, and they are required for saving.

Here is a list of games that are playable from CD-R

    http://www.epforums.org/showthread.php?56169

the above is also my VGA compat list but they are all personly tested... (I do have more games to add to that (Just PAL region games though no new games) another member helped me with the list just not had time to add the info/credit him)

All the games I have are selfbooting (though I want to download them all again some time)

Welcome to the world of dreamcast

P.S. there are some new releases on the Dreamcast in the form of jap space shooters, well recent years, not sure how long ago the last one was made, there are also a few newer english games that are already listed in the list I linked that are also from recent years

I suppose $35 isn't too bad these days especially since you get that warranty.

I wouldn't even hesitate if I could get a working dreamcast for $35.
But they aren't as common as other consoles over here.

    Spoiler warning:

If you do trade boards you can get them for like $20 (or less) + ship but that's kind of taking your life into your own hands.
