If it's an unmodded PS2 buy a codebreaker or action replay or softmod your PS2

    I vote softmod

Even if you have a mod chip I would still install a softmod with ESR to improve the compat

The elf files are for FreeMCboot with ESR
the above is very good softmod that lets you boot patched PS2 DVD games directly without a mod chip or slide card or any other tricks, the trick is getting it installed

the only downside is that it can't boot PS2 CD media, good news though alot of CD games can be converted to DVD

ESR softmod can't run patched cheat DVD's but can run the Codebreaker ELF patched to bootup ESR after you select your codes and tell it to boot your disc
