Default FFVIII Wont Load black screen or error message

    Hey guys,

I used to own FFVII-FFIX for the Sony Playstation. I hadn't played them in a while and they were too scuffed up to play on the discs I still have. So I decided to download the roms. I can get FFVII to work fine. FFIX works well but the FMV's suck. For some reason FFVIII wont load all Iget is a black screen or an error message when I try to load the ISO.

    IMG of error.

I looked up some stuff that said to patch it but I don't know how, and I'm not sure if I should trust the site. It was full of porn and my AVAST blocked like 8 malicious programs.

    Thanks for the help guys.

It says NTSC on the file name. I hope it is. How would I patch it?

I'm not sure as I've not had the problem myself after googling it i found several people with the same problem and they say to use this emulator for ff 8 http://www.emuparadise.org/Sony_Play...Windows/PSX/41

but if you must run epsxe someone else like possibly zorlon will be along shortly to help you

by the way the psx emu above does not have all the plug-in features of epsxe as their goal has always been to accurately emulate the playstation the same bios you have for epsxe should work as well just copy and paste
    setup is very easy

Try shortening the name of your folders, or move it to your desktop. Many progs cannot go further than so many directories.
I do not think you need a patch for anything, you might have just messed up with the file type/ Do you know about ECM files?
If it was an ECM, you have to use ECMTools to extract the image properly.

Really? 'Cause i dont see that anywhere in the pic.
Anyways, Doober, if you are using 1.7, switch to 1.52 for your FF games.
Make sure you set the off screen drawing to 2-3 in your video plugin.

EDIT: I see where it says 1.7 now
    Definately switch to 1.52.

Just mount the CD images with Daemon tools Lite (It's a free virtual CD-Rom drive) to bypass the FMV issues in FFIX also fixes disc changing aswell

Not sure what sucks about the FMV though in FFIX so not sure how to fix it

The game works perfectly fine in 1.7.0. but 1.5.2 less needs tweeked for the Final Fantasy games.. well not realy but some find it easier to use or something

As for FFVIII I'm not 100% sure yet, you can try mounting that aswell but to be honest it should atleast boot the game regardless, the error tells me there might be something wrong with the CD image or it was an ecm and was just renamed to remove .ecm from the file name, instead of being dropped onto unecm

All the NTSC versions of Final Fantasy are not protected so don't require patching.

    We have it here.

    Here you go.

Just drag and drop the .ecm onto unecm.exe.

The first time i saw a .ECM file it took me a minute to figure it out.
It took one search on google of "Linux .ECM" to find out that linux has a built it unecm tool
