How to use a gameshark with PSX emulator?

i was wondering if theres a way to use a game shark with the PSX 1.6.0 or any way to use cheats?

PEC is a plugin that is used as a video plugin, once installed PEC lets you pick a proper video plugin within the PEC plugin settings

PEC itself comes with tons of cheats to start with but you can add new ones and it's alot easier to add to than any console Action Replay/GameShark (Well unless you had everything needed to update codes via a PC)

OK i got the program but how do i make them work in the game, i enabled cheats, set the shortcut, then played the game after sending to plug in, then i pressed the buttons i chose. did i do something wrong? can i get a walk trough

yea that jdownloader isnt good to me i cant figure out how to get the file
even when i downloaded the file it wouldnt open for me once i got to the other archived files

PEC supports codebreaker codes aswell

You possibly just chose cheats for the incorrect region of the game

If you realy want/need a guide I may do one for you, I currently don't have ePSXe or PEC so would be easy to do a guide from scratch, including the install.

Codebreaker and Xploder CD's will work in ePSXe by the way, you are best mounting CD images to play all your emulated games, this gives a higher compat and makes CD exchaning work properly.

I still recomend PEC over and cheat CD though specially for adding codes and for creating your own codes (You just can't make your own codes with the Cheat CD's)


Instructions to install

1.Download PEC and run PEC (Install)
2.chose folder for PEC to be installed
3.Select the ePSXe plugin folder for the plugin to be installed (e.g. C:\Emulators\epsxe170\plugins)
4.Keep hitting Next and finally Install (You can close this for now)
5.In ePSXe set the Video to use the psx emulation cheater plugin
6.Hit Configure and pick the proper video plugin hit ok until all the menu's close

Instructions to use (I recomend you mount your games via Daemon Tools Lite (DTools))

1.Mount the game you want to play with DTools
2.Run ePSXe (this can be minimised for now)
3.Run PEC
4.In PEC hit the drive leter the mounted CD is in (This will auto find codes for the game in that drive) [Some games you may need to do that manually just make sure the region is correct]
e.g. US (U) [NTSC] game codes don't work with EU (E) [PAL] games and vice versa
5.Select all codes you wish to use
6.Hit F9
7.Back in ePSXe Hit... File>Run CDROM
8.Enjoy

(You may need to reset at some point)

If codes for your disc do not exist then add them yourself either with notepad or with a PEC editor, make sure to include the CD code to make things easy in the future (i.e. make it so PEC can detect codes for the disc) disc code = name of main PSX exe on CD

No you mount the CD image to the virtual drive Daemon Tools Lite (A free app, just google Daemon Tools Lite) in general you will get beter results mounting CD images but you don't have to take my word for it PEC will work without you mounting CD Images.

Daemon Tools will work with any Disc changing aswell you don't need to make real CD's infact recomend against it, the Virtual Drive method is much faster and has a much smoother read, but real CD's have search time and are prone to scratching/disc and other surface errors far too easy.
