    Default ff 9 black screen on loading

    I just downlaoded epsxe, got the plugins, and downloaded ff9 to by brand new comp, but now I can't get the %^%76in thing to play! Every time I load the iso, all I get is a steady black screen. I tried 1.7.0 first, then switched to 1.5.2 as recommended, but the same thing still happens no matter what gpu plugin I use or what bios I load. Help please!

    Have you tried a diff rom? Or diff video plugins?

    I tried all the plugins, and the iso is a bin. I downloaded the iso from here, so I assume it's a good one?

    Just .bin, not .bin.ecm? Also, mind linking the page you grabbed it from?

    1. grab the NTSC version (PAL version is LibCrypt protected)
    2. extract the game with 7-zip
    3. If the extracted file is *.ecm format unecm it with ecm tools (drag the ecm file over unecm, included in the ecm tools.rar)
    4. If no cue sheet is provided, get cue's and sbi's and extract the cue for your game to the same folder you have the games iso image
    5. enjoy it with ePSXe

    k, will get to trying it. I know epsxe itself works because it loaded my ff origins disc just fine, though the disc itself is a little borked, bummer

    Note: How do I tell which version(NTSC or PAL) of the ISO I downloaded?

    It should say on the page you grabbed it (the one on the main site's old PSX section is NTSC, if I recall). If you're still unsure after checking, link the page you grabbed it and we should be able to tell you

    nvm epsxe is saying PAL cdrom detected I'm guessing thats my problem right there. I'm gonna dl a diff file and see if that fixes it

    Edit: OOOPS. Guess that teaches me to watch what I'm dling! Heh, grabbing NTSC version now, and thanx for the help!

    Edit EditUCCESS! I got the NTSC version, unzipped and un ecmed it, loaded it, and it works! Now to unzip the other discs and play!

    you know, this is kinda ironic, I had this exact same problem when I tried Legend of Dragoon a few years ago(when I had my old OLD pc), and I finally figured out it was copy protection that was causing the black screen. I didn't remember that until now when you mentioned PAL being protected. Speaking of which, do you guys know where I can find the hack files for LoD, since I'll be needing those eventually?

    Legend of Dragoon NTSC = Protected
    Legend of Dragoon PAL = Not Protected

    Get the PAL-E version

    E = Europe = PAL Display
    U = USA = NTSC Display
    J = Japan = NTSC Display

    Copy Protection List You might find that handy I know most of these offhand by now anyway
