intro as in song, or as opening video? even though i didn't like FFX that much, i'd still have to say the opening is great. as for an older game, i'd go with "Golden Axe Warrior" essentially a rip off of Legend of Zelda but the opening songs in combination are awesome - in fact so catchy even 20 years later, it's hard to forget those melodies... but hell there are a ton of games with good openings and intros. Sonic Adventure still being one of my favorite opening songs.

Never really thought about a personal top favourite, but a few good ones have been mentioned. Soul Reaver above is a good example.
One that comes to mind for me is Final Fantasy IX - For such an old game it had some bloody good FMV's, and that theatre ship intro is bloody well done
Completely agree with this, brilliantly done, and very impressive FMV considering it came out almost 12 years ago.
