    Default Burning PS2 Games?

no just kidding. anyhoo, in about a month i'm gonna get a ps2. my nephew's pc has a dvd burner with double layer burning, of 8.5gig max capacity. sooo, i guess i can burn just about any ps2 game on a dvd. my question is, and comment....is there a special way of burning a ps2 game? like it is for the GC or can i just rip it the same way i'd rip a ps1/DC game? and can i get away with the lil exploit of using a gameshark or action replay on the ps2 to play the burned game? Ex: i place the Gs/PAR disc in. say start game with no codes, take disc out then place the burned ps2 game in and start...would that work? just wondering cuz thats how i do it on my psx.

I have tried a gameshark and it didnt work for some reason. I have swapmagic 3 with a slimline ps2. A DVD+R burner and I burn my games onto Ritek Ridata DVDs. Not one problem. One thing though. Whatever you do, burn/rip with DVD decrypter. Burning at 4x should be fine. (It is for me) Thats all there is to it, really.

cool. thanx for your input winged. also i ran into 2 files on how to boot ps2 games without chipping the system and how to burn ps2 games. not sure if these methods work. i read through most of it and it all seems easy. if anyone is experienced in doing this pls take a gander at the files and see if that stuff makes sense. got the files from: http://www.megagames.com/ps2/ps2_guides_files.shtml

Haha, those appear to be the same files that I looked through before buying Swap Magic.
Also, If you dont have a gameshark already, I would get swap magic instead because it is designed to play backups and the gameshark isnt. I have been through it all. Trust me. Before buying swap magic I tried action replay. I tried Gameshark. I even tried the psx swap trick with ps2 games. Also in changing discs I would not recommend using a plastic knife. Take a memorex cd. (has to be memorex) and cut it out to fit this diagram

May be a bit small but a thumbnail from google is all I could get. You should be able to get the gist of it.

Though my Half assed Credit Card versions seemed to work better.

Action Replay 2 v2 works with it's own dongle and I'm sure all the PS2 Action Replays do, but a PS2 without a memcard isn't worth using anyway

P.S. the image for the PS2 that slide card is on this forum in http://www.emuparadise.org/vbulletin...ad.php?t=24713

the guide is almost a year old now and the image has been up for a lil longer

Zorlon, are you the one that made the diagram in the first place? I have used that thing for so long and I had no idea who made it.

Well the thing is is that you can probably pick up swap magic for 24 bucks online while a gameshark is 30 and Swap Magic is guaranteed to work. Eh maybe I am just saying that because I never got the GS method to work.

i have a gameshark and a PAR from having owned a ps2 when it was 1st released...or sometime later. i never knew about that swap trick code cheat exploit thing till i pulled it off with my psx. thats why i'm assuming it may work with the ps2. according to some folks it does....and some it doesn't lol

If you lived in the UK you could have one of mine I have 2 but it might not be compatable with the US version or I would be willing to send it your way anyway (You would have had to pay for postage though )

Maybe you could pick one up on ebay for cheap maybe as part of an Action Replay that has a scratched disc or something as the disc wouldn't mater anyway as you have your own copy already
