Interesting... I did what Zorlon recommended with CDmage and found a crapload of corrupted sectors. I'm going to try to repair them and see if it helps any.

Hmm, a triple post. And even edited one of those. Huh

Hopefully you can get it work. If not, then someone could upload a working iso?
    Have you seen me before?

I guess a triple post is a no-no. sorry. Anyway, the problem is with the emulation, not the iso. The same problem occurs when I load up disc 2 and attempt to switch to disc 1.

I'm really unhappy about this. I guess I'll try some more stuff, but this is frustrating.

I detect sarcasm yeah double posting is a no no realy but er yeah shrug
Yeah just try not to do.

Hmm here goes what version of MGS do you have NTSC or PAL or just tell me the name of the file thats named a lil like S??S_##.####

I have not come across any problems like that with my copy of the same game.

I may yet be able to help you get the stupid thing running

P.S. did CD1 also have a ton of errors by chance

    It's SLUS_007.76.
Are you aware of the save state sound problem that happens sometimes? It's basically exactly the same as that.

I never use save states well not for ePSXe anyway so no I didn't know for that game but it is a generally known problem that save states can cause temp music problems, but this is normally solved just by entering the next area that a diff track kicks in.

Hmm you have the NTSC version, unfortionatly mine is the PAL version though emulation shouldn't make a diff, but you can't mix NTSC with PAL :/

I was thinking though if you scanned the image again and identified the problem files you could of copied the report then you can import good files in replacement with CDMage, maybe som, eone else can help then in that way.

I don't think that my PAL files would help for that at all because of a tiny bit of code diff and the fact the files have to match exact file size in the CDImage to the file you import

most of the messed-upness is in the file Zmovie.str. It's in the mgs folder in the cd image.

I sincerely hope the problem is with the image, because in that case it can be fixed.

were there any unidentifed? (reported as unused sectors)

If there were then you have big problems as there shouldn't be any unused sectors in it at all, it basicly means that one of the files ends before it should and there isn't anything you can do about that unless you feel confident enough to fix it in hex by hand and even then it's risky

no, don't believe so. The errors were all low to moderate severity, and it didn't have any problem identifying all of their locations. 5 out of the 244 errors were in Dummy3m.dat. All the rest were in zmovie.str.

in that case you either can get a diff version and even if it has errors aslong as the errors are not located in the same place you can get one good image out of it or if you find anyone is willing to upload the files to you (preferably not corupt ones) you should be able to just import the files into the CDImage over the old ones

The Dummy3m.dat shouldn't matter so much it's only there to boost the CD size and that helps it be read correctly by CD drives

Another alternative way to bypass the problem would be to get a saved state or memory card from someone who started the second disc, since the problem is only in the disc change. I think maybe I'll look around or ask a friend.

in that case so the save is as close to yours as possible upload your memcard and let somesome create a save on CD2 for you, mind you with the amount or errors in the CD Image it may well end up freezing totally but you never know

I may even do the save for you myself (I can covert between PAL saves and NTSC saves easy enough)

P.S. Memcard images are far more stable than Save States LOL the reasons have already been given

Just upload a save state, and i'll re-upload another past the 2nd cd start for you.
You can upload your save state zipped here-> www.yousendit.com
Just enter your e-mail, upload the file and give me the link.

Or else, I could extract those 2 files. Lemme see.

Edit->Dammnit, wait, i'm not gonna upload Zmovie whatevr from disc 2, like 136Mb.
Just make a save state like I said, i'll do it that way.
