Default Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine N64

Is it physically possible at the moment to get this game to run on any emulator?

Yep the answer is nope. You can actually get it to run, you can even get audio and a few small snatches of the intro (mainly part of a map).

But the actual game is still invisible, when this game falls as will the other Lucasarts games I'd imagine.

Well would you imagine it will be playable any time soon?

I'm not sure. Might wanna check out all of the emulator's websites. They might hint onto releases.

It won't be playable until the uCodes that game uses are emulated. I bet Rice has tried working on that some.

Believe me, as soon as this is showing signs of progress I'll report it

As it is I don't think it'll be long to see more progress. There are at least 3 very talented authors out there trying to fix these type of problems.

Del_Boy, whats your take on the idea that we at EP should develop some kind of a compatibility list ? We test all the roms we put on the site anyway... so...

It's not a bad idea at all. As a thought you can usually work out compatability for games simply by scanning a couple of the .ini files for the plugins/emulators.

Would be nice to have something a little more concrete for the users who are using the rom section though.

There aren't many N64 games that don't work to a degree nowadays. The main problems are Lucasarts games, and a few unemulated opcodes. And of course those who use hardware incapable of N64 like blendmodes

If I had my way all those users would be forced to purchase a Voodoo 5 before using N64 emulation- that'll solve 95% of the problems, lol

I was thinking of this anyway on the PSX side,
but for any compatability list to be developed for plugin emulators is gunna be a job and a half but I am more than happy to help in this.
I am talking more of a configuration list though aswell on the basic side as we can't define all the smaller details specially when it comes to different machines running the same emu and plugins you will get different effects, so the only extra things to mention as far as I can see is to mention setting for individual GFX Chips, between G-Force, Voodoo and what ever the other standard of GFX cards there is (I forgot the name of it )
With both N64 and PSX there are general settings atleast that do cover the most of the games running on the emu's

Like Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo?

It's been too long since I was last into the N64 Emulation Scene, I'm starting to feel like a n00b again...

Rogue Squadron and Battle for Naboo both use the same or a varient of the same Opcode AFAIK.

Rogue Squadron though does work partially with lemmys D3D plugin from Nemu.

Hmm.. for N64 we should make a list of games that don't work at all.

There are only a few. I can get them from the 1964 ini file right now.

Hey You Pikachu - need voice pak
Star Wars Rogue Squadron - gfx plugin violation
    Nightmare Creatures - doesn't boot
Dark Rift - character gfx missing
Stunt Racer 64 - needs gfx support
World Driver Championship - unsupported uCode
Star Wars Episode 1 Battle for Naboo - "
Indian Jones and the Infernal Machine - "

There are a few more that either have slow graphics or a few graphical errors that don't totaly make them unplayable.

    >Star Wars Rogue Squadron - gfx plugin violation

Partially working in Nemu 8 (not worth bothering with)

    >Nightmare Creatures - doesn't boot

    Use PJ64

Those are the main ones that don't work. I'd add something like Pokemon Snap being not worth playing at the moment due to errors with the picture proccessing aspect (and the rating mechanism).

Toukon Road 1 and 2 (J) also don't work AFAIK due to an error very similar to the Dark Rift one.
