Yeah there remakes of Red and Blue A.K.A Green

For emulation you don't need to patch them at all just extract the IPS in the same folder as the games and give it the same name as the rom, also if your rom is zipped the *.gba needs to be the same name aswell inside the zip.

    E.G.
Pokemon Fire Red (J).zip <-- Zipped up Rom
Pokemon Fire Red (J).gba <-- Rom inside zip
Pokemon Fire Red (J).ips <-- Patch file

Edit:- just had a lil try of the IPS and well it translates very little of the game at first it looked very promising but as soon as you actully start the game you will see for yourself all the text is Jap again, so I think that the patch is still in it's early stages but it is good to see progress with it

The Japanese version did have a way to get Mew without using Gameshark or the glitch in Red and Blue. I think that there was a Blue released in Japan. It was like a pokemon version of Master Quest for Ocarina of Time.

A little bit off topic but what was the glitch to get Mew?

I believe that these games also let you use Pokemon from the newer games, do they not? I'm probably mistaken, but I vaguely remember hearing that somewhere.

Nah it's the opposite actually, Cyber. Using these remakes you can transfer the old Pokemons to Ruby and Sapphire. In the end, you will be able to get every single Pokemon that exists onto your Ruby/Sapphire cart.

Sideshow Bob, P-chan, Cyberxion, whatever! I'll see what I can do about it, although I won't promise anything.
