The 750Ti OC I have... I ended up doing some reading and apparently it is a low power consumption card?

I cured my foot in mouth disorder with meditation and medication, but mad boffins are saner than sane people.

I read the comments and absorb random information, everything is binary qubits of data in a multiversal quantum equation. If you can understand me when I reply that may be mad crazy but not mad angry.

Very possible but there's nothing to do aside from changing to a different socket/chipset. You could likely pick up something acceptable (way better) on CL/Facebook market for cheap if you're patient enough.

It's around the same as the other cards I mentioned. The Radeon cards are around 100 and the NV are 70 - 100ish depending on which. The 720 should be under 30W, much worse performance but should be fine for what Grouch is limited to playing.

Posting a wanted on a PC HW forum would likely net some results. People are usually quite friendly about pricing since they're enthusiasts and have long since moved on.

Yeah I think the 750 is like 30w. If you have 250w psu you should be able to use it.
It's an old card but still better than onboard graphics on older mb's.

It can pull over 50w. He could probably keep it below that with vsync/frame limits forced on. At that price I'd say go for it, asking prices here on ebay look cruddy at the moment.

does a dvd/cd drive constantly draw power from the psu or only when in use?

Hardforum, Overclock.net, and TechPowerUp. I've not used HF but they've been around for a long time and their sale/trade section seems active.

I'd presume they have a standby mode when they aren't in use but I don't know for sure. Usage by one shouldn't be too high regardless.

I'd suggest having an idea of what era/years you're interested in before making a thread anywhere.

You could always disconnect power/data from the disc dive and leave it in the case.
