It's very large. Bioware took forever to make it so there is a ridiculous amount of quests and possible choice outcomes. This is easily its best quality and why I keep wanting to replay it, but then check out after I remember the level design is horsecrap (HOPE YOU LIKE GIANT FUCK YOU FIREBALLS KNOCKING YOU DOWN WHEN YOU GET NEAR DOORS OR GATES)
You can mitigate this by playing on easy, though, and you can switch difficulty on the fly.
Also, pick mage. Warriors get nothing to do, and while there is fun to be had as a thief, mages get such a ridiculous amount of options and ways to manipulate the battlefield that they basically break apart a lot of the difficulty.
