    Default SNES to PS2 - how to burn the cd correctly?

    Hello,

    first of all i'm german and if my english isnt perfect i apologize for that.

    i want to play yoshis island on my ps2, so i downloaded this emulator: http://www.emuparadise.me/Emulators.php => Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) => Playstation 2 (snes_emu.elf-1047.rar)

    and this ROM: http://www.emuparadise.me/Super_Nint...and_%28USA%29_[Hack_by_Golden_Yoshi_v1.0]_%28~Super_Mario_World_2_Plus_-_Yoshi's_Island%29/35755

    but after that i have no idea how to burn it correctly and i cant find something like a FAQ?

    It's ok you are not in trouble, this is just where your thread belongs (emulating SNES on PS2 so Everything Console>Sony systems).

    You need to create a PS2 CD Image (Not a DVD image)

    Something like CDGen 3.0 from http://sksapps.com//index.php?page=mis.html

    add the elf file (make sure it has a short file name like SNES.elf)

    You will also need to make a SYSTEM.CNF

    inside that file is just plain txt (Use Notepad to edit it and add)

    BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SNES.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = PAL/NTSC

    Now add some roms, you may need to use 8.3 file names

    Best to sort into folders, instead of one huge list

    Hit the Img button (You may be prompted for some extra steps, not sure if I missed anything out.. it has been years since I bothered with this stuff)

    Then burn the CD image the above creates

    hi zorlon

    inside the emulator.zip are 2 datas. "snes_emu.elf" and "snes_emu_hdd2.elf" i put both on the iso with CDgen
    i created a system.cnf of my own with the text you gave me. the ROM is on the cd (unzipped of cource, its one sfc file) as well and i get a iso with CDgen

    then i burned it with cdburnerxp, but it doesnt work

    what did i do wrong? seems like i followed your steps exactly?

    What is inside the system.cnf file, it is the file that tells your PS2 what file to boot

    i changed your text from:

    "BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SNES.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = PAL/NTSC"

    to:

    "BOOT2 = cdrom0:\SNES_EMU.ELF;1
    VER = 1.00
    VMODE = PAL/NTSC"

    because the name of the data is like this

    maybe i have to choose a burn method? its on automatic

    - track at once
    - disc at once p-w
    - disc at once p+q
    - session at once

    are the available options

    I've just posted a DVD copy of Snes Station with a full USA romset. Personally I don't like it, the sound seems a bit choppy and games run a bit fast. I prefer the Xbox SNES emulators. Each to their own though...

    Hope you did not have " marks in the cnf file

    dao and sao amount to the same thing tao will not work so well

    defaults with imgburn is fine though

    agree with Jack and will add that everything emulated on the PS2 is just not that good though a great breakthrough at the time none of the emulators are perfect and all have flaws

    SNES for example can be too fast and not fast enough depending on the game and a number of games just don't work
    Megadrive is the same on PS2

    Xbox and Wii are better equipped machines for emulation sake (as it happens I use a PS2 or PSX pads with both the Wii (Can be done via GC ports or USB) and the Original Xbox with a PS2/PSX to Xbox pad convertor)

    AS far as multi platform games go xbox also got the better versions in general, but I never could stand the xbox pads especially if the Black and White keys got used, otherwise not that bad

    It works for me using a DVD. It is an ESR patched version, you need to have a free mcboot memory card in your PS2.

    Mod chip I take it...

    use the DVD image but before burning use the ESR patcher and remove the ESR patch with it and try burning that

    P,S, a PS2 without a PS2 memcard is not worth using

    1MB cards are PSX memcards
    8MB cards are PS2 memcards (best to go official for the memcard)
