Default PSP2 ISO and UMD on PSP

My psp is running custom firmware and I have no problem putting GBA, SNES, PS1 emulators and games on it. They run really well. I am struggling with psp isos to run on my psp though. I am able to download, extract and put the isos into the right place on my psp. I can even open the psp isos from my memory stick under the game section, but when the game trys to load beyond the main start screen ,it just goes black or get stuck. For example - I have a save file from Phantasy Star Portable 2 which I played through with the actual umd, but when I install the PSP2 iso I can start the game and even get to my character on my memory stick, but when I try and load it just gets stuck loading or crashes. Does anyone have any advice? I am pretty new to emulating so I am at a loss to troubleshoot. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

    What CFW do you have?

    Are the isos defragged?

The custom Firmware is Minimum Edition for 661

I don't think they are defragged... how would I be able to do that?

Is it every game you try?

you can defrag by plugging in the PSP or mem stick directly and use a Defrag tool.

I don't think its fragmentation though, if its every game then sounds like a big issue.

It sounds like it may be the CFW but I think you should wait to see what Zorlon and the other members say on the issue.

Check the clock speeds and make sure they are on default settings

Holding select on the main menu should show the clock speeds

I'm sure you already know that iso files should go in the iso folder not the psp/game folder

The other issue could be the memstick itself especially 3rd party ones or fake ones that are much slower than the official Sony ones causing all sort of load issues

cso files if you have those can be uncompressed back to iso files to help improve loading

Thanks for the reply Zorlon. I have tinkered with all different settings for clock speeds and disabling plugins, but the isos still crash. I have a separate iso folder and I believe it is in the right spot. My memory stick says Sony memory stick duo 16gb magicgate mark2. I am going to try extracting the isos from a different computer because I have been doing the rest of the emulators and roms on a chromebook. Which works great for GBA and etc. but might be the problem for the psp stuff.

Do you know how to check hashes?

See if the CRC32 matches what is on Redump.org and Renascene.com

If they do not match that may be a issue to address as well.
