Default "Cue sheets". Where are they?

    Hello. First post here!
    I'm on a Mac.

I have now downloaded two old PS1 games.
    Rayman and Wip3out.
Both are compressed as .7z which uncompresses to .ecm and a bunch of .ape files.
They must then be uncompressed in the Terminal (UNIX) with the help of an unecm command.
    So far so good. But...

The instructions keep refering to a "cue sheet".
The unecm commands must match the cue sheet. But where is it?
    Where is the cue sheet?

    Anybody knows..?

    Thanx!

I have now converted the 4 first tracks of Rayman to .bin files according to the cue sheet.
I thought that would be enough to get the game started.
    But no.
Is it really necessary to rename all 51 tracks to .bin first?

Yup the tracks are checked by the cue sheet and on boot

You can try and edit the cue make a backup first then remove track 5 or 6 to 51 from the cue file that is just a text file

Depending on what the game checks/looks for though that may not work

    It works!
    It wooooorks!

Am I the first one to get RayMan (E) to run?!

    But..., the joy was short.
I cant get the controllers to work.
RayMan doesn't respond to the keystrokes I entered in the preferences.
He just crawls to he's death in the swamp....

    What emulator are you using?

I suggest Retroarch but if you want it spoonfed you can use OpenEmu.

They should detect your controllers immediately.
THE BEST METHOD to run PSX games (and everything else for that matter) is via Retroarch - http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/
If you have any questions on how to set it up on Windows please feel free to ask, its very easy.

    Hahaha!
    "Spoonfed" ?!

I'm using OpenEmu on Mac and I've been as far away from "spoonfed" as I have ever been!
Having to rename BIOS.es to get them to work is not what I would call spoonfed.
But yes. That's what I want. But it doesn't seem to be a reality.

So, my controller is ofcourse the keyboard.
I configured the keyboard in the preferences and then I navigated through the startup menues and got the game rolling.

Then..., the poor fellow just crawled to he's death...

Renaming a bios file isn't that uncommon for emus. I hardly ever emulate but I've had to do that at least once to get an emu to work on PSP.

    Spoiler warning:

    But.., "spoonfed"?!!

I had to work for HOURS to get the game started!
And then, when it finally started. The joy was short....

There doesn't even seem to be an emulator for iPad iOS?

The iso file format is the issue not the emulator on this occasion the format originally was used just so the compression would be as small as possible saving server space and download time, though it also has a side effect of taking a bit more effort and time to uncompress after download to make it a usable disc image

personally I find it rather easy but I don't see it as being a great way to share myself because it has caused so much frustration for so many users

Yeah a lot of emulators are restrictive to what they accept (file formats, file names ect ect...) especially ports more so for mass ports like openemu, retroarch & many many more, something I am not keen on but it is manageable with a bit of effort.

Iso is not a suitable format for CDs as you lose data.

Openemu uses modified libretro cores so it uses Mednafen PSX which will not accept iso format, must be Bin/cue or CCD or Alcohol.

I did not say *.iso, I was using iso as a loose term for a CD image please don't get confused

as already mentioned this is a multi *.bin+*.cue format not *.iso

it does not matter in the slightest what the files are named as long as there is a cue to tell whatever software what it is looking at, providing the software uses the cue sheet correctly

The issue arose because the files had not all been converted only some of them (*.ecm & *.ape to *.bin files), just read the thread..

    This is already resolved anyway...

There are still controller issues though that I am unsure if the op resolved or not though

as a hint though it may be worth looking to see what actual controls the game itself uses, what is used to walk/run/duck/jump ect ect it may just be a misunderstanding as to what needs to be pressed to get the game rolling

    Hello friends!

I don't know what just happened. But, today the controllers work!
    How can that be?

Maybe there was a preferences issue that I fixed when I emulated two other games.
Then, Rayman just worked. Like magic.

Well, we all know that Rayman is a magic little fellow. Isn't he?

Now I just wish that every other Rayman fan who has failed in the past will succeed.
Don't hesitate to ask how we did it.

Today I have also played WipeOut 2097 and Crash Bandicoot.
    This is fantastic!
This is the fountain of youth!
This is how you do to become 25 years old again.
