Downloaded 0.161 mame rom set, most rom dont work

So yea i downloaded the 50+ gig mame rom file thinking i would have everything to work with mame 0.161.

As i start the mame application, I notice that most of the games dont work, getting the missing rom or image error.

I am new to mame setup but downloading 0.161 rom set does not guaranty that all roms will work with mame.exe 0.161?

I am missing something in the configuration to allow all games 0.161 to work?

Sounds like you are missing the chd's that makes the mame folder a little over 400GB not 50GB

roms are rom chip dumps
chd's are not roms as they are dumps of other storage media such as Hard Disc Drives or CD/GD/DVD discs possibly other drives also

To be honest though most the games that require a chd either run poorly if at all anyway

Thanks I was not aware that I was missing another big bunch of files.

My goal was to make my arcade run all mame games possible but looks like im far from beeing done.

Ill download that torrent and hope for the best.

if only for the
Samples pack that is for some of the older games to enable sounds
But they also have all sorts of support files like cabnet, marquees and other images that are great for gui versions of MAME like MAMEUI that, that site has a good collection of both 32bit and 64bit flavors of

You may also want cheats.dat and history.dat files that can add cheats to the in-game tab menu and add history information to the gui

Not got time to look for the cheats or history files just now though
