Specs:
Dual Core 5400 @ 2.70Ghz.
2GB DDR2.
500GB HDD (why people include this? I dunno.)

I'll post the cards from the cheapest to the most expensive, by most expensive I mean that it's inside my budget and the next one to it it's a $50-60 increase. I'd like to play stuff in mid-high settings (The Witcher, Mass Effect 2, Bad Company 2, COD Black Ops (yeah yeah) and Starcraft 2 with a 1366x768 res.

I know. :lol He got it with his computer around those years, 2006 I think. :P It managed to run Fallout 3 and Dead Space just fine, so that's why I'm not looking at sky-high specs and price video cards since I know a somewhat lesser one can do the job.

Yup. Around $100 a few dollars more/less. The next one is a GTS450 for $180. :P

I read it's PCI-E 2.1. I don't know if my board (most likely not) has 2.1, are those backwards compatible or not?

What is your PSU though? Generic one? I learnt the hardway with PSUs, ignoring polo's advice constantly about upgrading it before putting a 3870 in my tower.

Then I was all :] FUCK YEAH MY GENERIC 550W PSU RUNS THE 3870 PERFECTLY, 20 minutes later the PSU blew up. :rofl:

It'll work. You can use a PCI-E 2.0 card in a 16x PCI-E slot, I was for ages.

He is using what must be a 5-6 year old generic PSU, I'd guess around 300-500W... He's been using an 8600GT, 9800GT, now he's using a GTS250 and if my uncle upgrades no doubt he will then cram the 5770 into it and it WILL blow the PSU up. He will not listen to me that he shouldn't be using a generic POS PSU...

Get a 500-600W Corsair PSU if it's in your price range, your PC will thank you in the long run. :)

There are loads of other good quality brands as well. Just look for something that says 80%+ efficiency.
