Drives work but the card doesn't support spin-down so I'll have to uninstall, modify, and then reinstall the driver @_@.
Looks relatively simple since it's only a single line in the INF. I'm hoping it'll be able to enter and resume from sleep after that but only spinning down would be better than nothing.
kinda pissed tonight. I spent all day transferring files to my new drive and when I finally get done and hook it up to my media player the damn thing won't properly detect it fucking chinese junk >:
That isn't unusual in my experience, like for cheap Chinese media players. I have 2 currently that boot coreelec instead of the factory shitty os.
Here's what you can do: use usb y cable (splitter with dedicated power line)) and usb power adapter (just any shitty rubbish should do, 1A or more). Some usb cd/dvd burners need that setup too.
Both my media players can run larger (4TB+) usb powered drives if I use y cable and apple type usb power.
You could of course try to use 2 usb ports on the media player if they're there but I just use a dedicated power source instead. Stops the player from being loaded up power wise.
The player only needs 1 port for data.
The y cable has 1 male usb at one end, this plugs into the player.
Coming out from that male plug but heading away is a power only cable that leads to another male plug (plug this into a usb mains power adapter, if this cable run is short then use usb male to female extension).
The other part of the split is power and data ending in a female plug, you plug your usb only powered hdd into that.
