I'm finally starting on kanji. I'm start with WaniKani (beta, still free since I'm level 1) and Read Japanese Today by Len Walsh. WaniKani is like a really pretty (and somewhat costly) version of Heisig's Remembering The Kanji, but with a better order and made by a younger team. RJT is an interesting book. It's not an SRS system at all. Instead, it breaks down each of about 300 kanji into their origins to help you remember and more importantly understand why they look the way they do.

I have my brother in law's Genki1+6disks, and a coworker's Genki2, so I'll probably be going through those pretty soon as well.

I think I'll go out of my way to find all three Xenosaga games and finish them this time. I've only ever finished the first and I thought it was one of the slowest most pretentious things I've ever played.

brit: The Genki books are good for beginners, definitely go through those. I also found this book pretty fucking useful but most of it is in Japanese so you won't get to really use it until you're at an intermediate-ish level. Worth bookmarking for later use, though. :wacko:

RTK, I never used back in the day. It definitely works for some (many?) people though.

Apparently pretty good once you hit the level cap. There's a new Glamour system which allows you to make your gear look fabulous.

Also there's boob physics.

Oh and yeah the PS4 version looks as good as the PC version and runs better from what I heard. Definitely an upgrade over the PS3 one.

Aaaaand there's cross platform play between console and PC players!

More games need to do that.

All the servers are in the US afaik, but the time zone for European servers are of course based on Europe. Aka you'll see the most players online during the evening according to UK time. Something to consider... :wacko:

Oh I definitely can't afford it right now. Just saying that I was interested in it and having someone to play with would make it way better.

Also, playing on an EU server I imagine would have latency issues. Hopefully we can actually play together to begin with.
