Also, while Phantasy Star 1-3 have aged badly, 4 remains awesome to this day, and is for my money up there with the best 16-bit RPGs out there. Which, given some of the stuff on the SNES, is high praise~!

If you ever attempt Star Ocean again 1 and 2 are on the psp and highly recommend those versions.

Good games but they're more like a cross between a jarpig and resident evil i always thought
Grandia's gameplay deservedly gets a lot of focus, but I think its story and characters are pretty fabulous too. ^_^ For me, there aren't many better "boy goes on a big adventure and becomes a man" type JRPG stories out there, and it has a sense of high spirited adventure about it that a lot of JRPGs try for and not many succeed in actually conjuring up. The cast seem a bit annoying at first, but they really grow on you as the story goes on, and I think the character development of the two main characters is actually handled super-well, with them genuinely feeling as if they grow and change over the course of the game. ^_^
Admittedly the awful, awful English voiceovers kind of ruin it, as does the slightly ropey translation (it's good for the first half of the game, but seems rushed in the second half), and it's undeniably more than a little corny at times, even in Japanese. But I still think the story and characters are really, really nicely done in it~
Although with Star Ocean 2, that means that you lose the so bad it's fantastic PS1 dub. :wacko: TEAAAAAAAR INTO PIECES!Quote:
