The corrider-fest is what got me most of all. I couldn't care less about the story partly due to the fact I didn't really pay attention in the first place. Yes the graphics were pretty and I'm not one to say graphics aren't everything as I do enjoy them in games but that's another story. I simply couldn't get into the game at all. Period. Before this I had played FF12 again which is vastly superior and I don't care what other people say it's just fantastic. Also I did Lost Odyssey which had some FF people onboard for that and felt more like an FF game than 13 did.
I would like to finish it at some point, as I managed to recently slog through 8 which I've never really liked just to say I've beaten all the numbered offline games. Which means I would have to try FFX-2 and the sequel to 13 as well I guess.
The crowning moment for me was summoning Shiva for the first time and that was it. The characters were gay even for an FF, even more than Squall (or as I named him - Douche)
I like to branch out and do other things and this game gave no hint of that as far as I played it. It was even more linear than FFX which is saying something. I hated FFX when I first played it too and it wasn't until years later that I tried it again and really enjoyed it. (I love boss battles and making it to the calm lands and creating monsters etc really pushed the game for me) so the next time I play it which I'm sure I will I'll make sure I haven't recenty gone through a couple of rpgs so I won't be as burned out from the genre.
OMFG DID I JUST MAKE A SEMI-SERIOUS POST.
WHAT'S THE WORLD COMING TOO!!!!!
BEER!
Finally applied new thermal paste. The factory squirt was much too thick and it looks like I dropped 5 degrees while idle; not bad, could have been nothing, but I am happy with it.

YEAH BITCHES!
A parallel port.
Back when I found a motherboard (taht I had hoped to use for the GF) I popped a parallel I/O PCI card into the box with it. heh
Just installed it and it had no problem DLing drivers from the interwebs. The disc only had drivers for DOS though Win98 though. :o
Gonna test it out soon to make sure I can use it in Win7 x64. :lol
HAY I NO NOT WERE 2 BUYY MODCHIP
DID WALMERT HAV IT?
Going back into dreamcast feels so good.
Let's hope that guide to fix the reset problem worked.
Must... resist... urge... to... rant.......
Oh well. Here's my summary. Final Fantasy 1-7: YAY. Final Fantasy 8: Who wrote this storyline? Because I want to slap him. Final Fantasy 9: This is underappreciated. Yay. Final Fantasy 10: Decent, if a little off on occasion. 11 is an MMO, didn't play that. Final Fantasy 12: Neat story CONCEPT. Appalling execution, especially with the most forgettable party members of a Final Fantasy game. Final Fantasy 13: ...yeah, screw this series.
I actually played 13-2 after getting the demo (I'm a fanboy, hush). And found that it solved a lot of issues with the original. Combat system a bit (note, just a bit) more sensible, more exploration, minigames, etc, and actual interactable NPCs.
Yay 13-2. Or so I thought.
Then I got to the ending.
Here's a spoiler alert'd summary:
Spoiler warning:
Yeah, fuck you square enix.
And then I decided to play Sonic Adventure 2.
DC works like a charm now. :]
I should dig my DC out of the drawer...
COOK, YOU DAMN TURKEY
:drag:
Whelp gotta reburn Sonic Adventure 2
sonic adventures is now on steam :3
Well, sad to see the Detroit Lions lose today to Houston... :(
Oh well, I've had a shitty Thanksgiving. What about everyone else?
Sprung using a Kasumi avatar again, good times.
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault arrived four days early.
I am okay with this. ^^;;;
There are some pretty wicked games for it. ^^;;; Full Frontal Assault is a tower defense-esque game. It's kind of an in-between "filler" title in, in that it's rather short and doesn't have the same full story behind it that a full retail title would. But brand new release for $20 -- Insomniac is doing it right.
Yeah, I just picked up Dead Island GOTY edition yesterday. Planning on playing some system-link co-op with the roomy tonight after we both get back home. Can't freaking wait. :]
Also have a few older PS3 titles already. Battlefield:BC2, GATIV, MAG, RE5, and Farcry 2. Time to look on Craigslist soon for some good deals on some of the newer titles.
If you haven't played Uncharted 2, grab it for some serious fun. Also any of the retail Ratchet games are totally worth it, although Tools of Destruction was by far my favourite. Otherwise, just have fun -- there are so many different games in so many different genres that you really can't go wrong with anything.
Now, to go investigate this special edition of Dishonored that Inferno was talking about, and see if I want to import it or not. It's only about $40 for a special edition that actually seems worthwhile. I never even thought to check stores in the UK for cheaper prices on stuff before.
I'll definitely be picking up the R&C titles for PS3 if I can find a good deal. Also my roomy has quite a few PS3 games. Pretty sure he has all of the Uncharted games, so that's definitely on the list of ones to play soon. Dishonored is an awesome game. I'm all for special editions as long as they come with some cool stuff.
Well, off to my mom's house to gorge myself on turkey and pie. Talk to you later man. :wav:
You should be able to get Tools of Destruction and A Crack In Time for under $20 nowadays. Or at least damn close to that price.
This special edition of Dishonored actually seems pretty cool. I'm going to get one for myself, just trying to decide if I want to order another one for my buddy - I know he was really looking forward to Dishonored, but I haven't talked to him since it was released and I don't know if he's coming out for Christmas this year. Or if I'll be able to get this in time for Christmas. :lol It's kind of coming from almost the other side of the world.
Enjoy your meal, buddy. :wav:
Holy cow. We made an awesome turkey!
:awesome:
Okay. Just spent ~$80 on two copies of that special edition of Dishonored that Inferno was talking about. Mainly because I will buy most special editions if they come with some sort of physical extra instead of just extra DLC. Here's hoping I don't get butt-fucked with import duties.
