Woah, landslide victory for the Scottish National Party in Scotland (56 of the 59 constituencies in Scotland) and Conservative majority from the rest of the UK. The not-so-United Kingdom. D:
I don't think they've ever been too friendly in my years of life.
There have always been tensions, but this is verging on as big a political division as there's ever been in the history of the union. Scotland has traditionally been very liberal and left-wing compared to many parts of England, but we've still shown solidarity with other British left-wing voters, and have voted primarily for Labour and the Liberal Democrats, two British parties. This year, though, the support for both in Scotland just completely crumbled, to the point where the SNP (a party you can't even vote for unless you're voting in Scotland) is now the third most represented party in the entire British parliament. It's a huge vote of no confidence from Scotland in all of the British parties, as well as British politics in general, and is probably the biggest British political shakeup in a long, long time. I guess it was a given following the close result of the independence referendum last year that things wouldn't be quite the same again. But I don't think anyone really expected a shift this gigantic. Really wondering what this means for the future of the union.
Toast is made with or without bread
I think you need sleep

The weirdest thing happened on the way home from work. The sun was going down, not coming up.
I remember when I did night shifts and the sun would come up when I was coming home. I don't miss those days.
The timing of the referendum appears to have cocked everything up unfortunately. It should still have been held, but eight months before a general election when it would still be fresh in people’s minds and the SNP would very obviously be on a campaigning blitz? Smart move for Cameron, smart move for the SNP, terrible move for the future of the union. I’m genuinely quite worried what the next five years have in store for all of us.
