He plays a lot like he has in any other game he's been in, albeit he's infinitely more fluid in his implementation this time. He's very solid a character I think, and he'll be well worth buying as DLC when the time comes.
I kind of laughed to myself today.
One of the guys in my class pulled up SRK and was reading that article, and i said "oh hey that's krisan, i know him " (yes i wacko irl sometimes...).
It was pretty interesting seeing it from an outside perspective.

good news for X fans:
Quote:
- Niitsuma said that they're considering X in since they're not done with characters yet and they want to make fans happy
- Niitsuma also said X was planned on being in the game, the same with Apocalypse, but they couldn't be in sadly
- Niitsuma finally said if there's any Megaman to be in the game it will be X based on fan requests and hype surrounding the character
Not at all, but I thought you were against the use of jailbroken consoles or something, given that it's now a felony or something. I just thought that you were being extra specific about the origin of the data that Krisan decrypted, which IMO it's silly.
But eh, carry on.
nope, not against it, people do what they want. if i ever do it to my console i will still buy games i like
I gotta admit, I never was really into any kind of fighting games before, but this one is amazing. But now I have to start from square one since I lack any competent skills.
EDIT: The only thing I could of wished for was the addition of Volnutt over Tron. That would of been amazing. :(
So.. I've been rocking this game pretty hard the last few days with my Storm/Phoenix/Morrigan team. What teams are everyone elses primary teams right now? I find my Storm does pretty well on point against a lot of players, and my Morrigan acts as an excellent asset for air combat. (Phoenix primarily used as an Assist, with Dark Phoenix as my flashy can-o-whoop-ass character.)
Okay this will might sound odd, but if i was going to play MvC3 for the very first time, What's a good "starter" team?
Everyone is pretty well balanced in MvC3, so there is less of a gap in terms of what's required to learn a character here than there are in most of the versus series. That said, you probably want to avoid Phoenix until you've got a handle on the game. (As she has by far the least health of anyone.) And probably Trish too, as she's very strategy oriented. You might consider a character like Dante for your point man though, as it seems most newer players and those genuinely unfamiliar with versus fighters have an easier time adapting to his moveset. Really, it's going to boil down to your preference in the end and whatever personal playstyle you find you enjoy the most. (And that which works best for you.)
Experimentation, in other words, is your best bet. What you want to try and do though, is find one main character you feel comfortable with and have them on point in most of your fights, with a secondary character you can fall onto if the first dies. (Ideally, having these two characters be good at different things.. that way you can adapt to different encounters better.) Your third character should probably be reserved mostly as an assist, though you're going to want to still be able to hold your own with this character in case of an emergency. A solid assist is incredibly important as you get deeper into the game.. Without a good assist, you could find yourself in some serious trouble as you face players of progressively higher skill.
My policy is usually this: One Ground or Ground\Air man on Point that does the majority of the damage, One Air man that can be tagged in or fallen back on to take point when necessary (this character also preferably has a tilt-up assist, or some kind of launcher), and one character that has a really good pressure assist that can distract\punish anyone on the ground whenever possible. (Though again, you need to be able to use this character if it comes down to it. So they can't just be used as an assist without you having no understanding of how to play as them.)
Storm acts as my point man personally, I use her to lay the beat-down on people on the ground and try to juggle them up into the air with repeated lightning-attack's. I use Morrigan as my air man, usually having Storm setup a combo that leads into Morrigan tagging in and finally following through with one of her hypers. (Darkness Illusion is wonderful.) I have Shadow Blade set as Morrigan's assist, as it makes a nice launcher and punishes anyone trying to dive on Storm from overhead. Storm herself is using Lightning Attack as her assist at the moment, which admittedly isn't the best.. I might start using Whirlwind instead, as that could prove a nice pushback for relieving pressure off of Morrigan from time to time. (Lightning Attack is quick though, it's just more a matter of trying to get that assist to connect.) Phoenix is on TK Overdrive for her assist, which I use as my pressure on the ground to keep an opponent locked down whenever possible.. It deals nice damage when it connects, and it's pretty fast. When forced to play Phoenix herself I vary it up between games of keep-away and raw brute force bull-headedness. (I charge in without fear, in other words.) I usually only pull Phoenix out when I have 5 Full Bars and can spare her death should it occur. I generally then go completely apeshit on my opponent as Dark Phoenix and destroy them in a flurry of fire. (This is also about the only time I ever use X-Factor.. It really makes her quite ridiculous.)
I rarely use hypers in my strategies unless I already have Dark Phoenix up, or if I already have a huge advantage over my enemy. Or.. if I vary it up and have Morrigan on her Dark Harmonizer assist, which gives you a quick 30% bonus to your hyper bar. (Can build up a bar so very quickly with that assist..) Ice Storm is is my hyper of choice when I find I have an opening in the middle of battle.. Otherwise, Darkness Illusion is what I always try to sneak into the middle of my combos. Aaaand.. Wow this post came out a lot longer than I was expecting it to.
I was planning on playing you Krisan, but now I realize how outclassed I am.
This lag is awesome.
I'd prefer my characters do nothing when I press buttons, so it's perfect for me. :)
Not being able to do a simple magic series? Lovely.
But then very rarely I get a match with little or no lag, and its just horrible... Actually having control over my characters? No thank you.
So, played this with a friend at their place. Cant say I'm overly impressed. It really does feel like a reskinned TvC. One that was then handed to a photoshop nublet who wants to put LENSFLARE ON EVERYTHING. (Not actual lensflare, obviously. I'm more talking about the need to put overly obnoxious effects on every surface possible.)
It isn't a bad game, but after Blazblue/SSFIV it definitely feels ...Hmm.
Unrefined isnt really the word. Its a solid game. Challenging as well, in the fact that there is a lot that can go right/wrong in a fight.
I guess it doesnt feel very technical, though? It's difficult to explain, but I can more or less beat the controller against my forehead and manage at least a 40 hit ground bounce/air juggle. If I rub the controller against the floor I'll probably even manage a midair character swap continuation. I guess it feels like there are some heavy training wheels on this badboy. I recall spending hours getting Strider's air juggles pixel perfect, but I can accomplish combos twice as long with Dante without even having practiced.
Its a fun and enjoyable game, but I cant see myself getting as absorbed as I did with MvC2. I still need to pick it up, though, I rather enjoyed it in the same vein as I did TvC.. which is to say, loafing in a recliner and kind of giggling maniacally at just how ludicrous the fight was getting. All DBZ up in this bitch.
Oh, right, also Sentinel is as broken as ever, and anyone who uses him as a third simply for the Xfactor bailout needs to die in some kind of fiery accident.
Well, I think we'd have fun playing even if that were the case. (I don't consider myself awesome at this genre.) So I'd still like to play sometime if you want to.
MvC2 took years to accomplish the level of competitive edge it had, and it's roster was half trash by comparison to MvC3's. It's going to take awhile for the metagame to be fleshed out of MvC3. (And yes, the controls are more streamlined so that things don't take hours on end or even months on end to learn, I do not see how this is a BAD thing.) There's quite a lot of potential in this game, you just have to give it time.
He's basically the Cable of MvC3 right now. (Cable in the early MvC2 days was nigh on impossible to counter unless you built your whole team around countering him specifically. That eventually changed over time as people delved deeper into the metagame, though.) He is actually VERY easy to counter with certain characters, though.. Dark Phoenix has the ability to completely lock him down with TK Shot spam. (It sounds like a bit of a scrub tactic, but she fires those damn orbs so fast, and Sentinel is so inherently slow that it pretty much leaves him immobile.) Likewise any flying character can fuck with him if they stay in the air, or if they dive bomb him directly from above. (You can honestly just wait out his entire X-Factor with a flying character by playing a game of keep-away..)
I wonder who won the recent DLC polls...
No one seems to want to tally it up, myself included. But hey maybe if I get really bored I'll trudge through the 400 pages each side and bring a list back here.
Megaman X and Phoenix Wright were supposedly the top two Capcom side, last I checked. I don't know who made it Marvel side though. I believe Psylocke was relatively high in the polls, as was Cyclops.
The last time I checked (back when there were about 200 pages each), Gambit and Strider were both number 2... and Phoenix Wright and Ms. Marvel were both number 1.
I just hope there's more than just two more DLC characters.
Well, polls are ending tonight anyway, so by tomorrow the results will be in. I'll be patient.
*crosses fingers for Strider*
Strider would likely require some licensing mumbo-jumbo to be worked out in order for him to be added.. That doesn't mean he can't be added, mind you, but I don't know if Capcom wants to delve into that for a DLC character. I do think X is highly likely though, and from the looks of it when I was digging around in the game data.. Frank West might make a come back, and Doc Ock looks to have a very good shot at making the roster.
I'd like to see Firebrand. He was a pretty decent character in SvC: Chaos. There were actually a couple of pretty nice additions. Following the line of Capcom characters I'd like to see, Jedah(?) from Darkstalkers had a lot of fun moves as well and I think he'd fit in with the current roster rather neatly.
As for who Id ever like to see in Marvel, I dont really know. dark Phoenix was one of the characters I'd wanted back since the begining. The execution is a bit weird, considering her actual comic powers and all, but she was pretty fun to play as so I cant complain.
Meh meh, I need to just pick this up and really camp on it. I know it being easier to access isnt a bad thing, but I suppose I just get kind of bored with it. TvC was the same. A really fun game, but it didn't feel like I really had to work to master any particular character. Still, Rift is coming out soon and I dunno if MMO will allow time to play fighting game... Hmm. Maybe I'll go slum by gamstop this tuesday.
Ms. Marvel would be fucking awesome.
I would like to see Venom or Sentry myself.
MvC3 still requires work to master, it's just a lot of that work is now mostly seated in strategy as opposed to raw muscle memory. (Not that strategy wasn't a part of it before, it's just it takes a front seat in this particular game.) Group synergy is going to play a gigantic part in how the competitive side of this game pans out.. likewise, finding out ways to bait your opponent or fake them out from character to character is going to be very important in this game I think.. There's really a LOT of potential in this game if you think about it, it's just going to take time to realize it all I think. It's a really fun game though regardless, and I feel that's what's really important above all else.
Well, I think Moto Kikaku would want any attention for Strider they could get. Especially if it means money in their pockets.
Or, wait, are they defunct?
Well, anyway, I just really hope he's in. I think the re-release of MVC2 would allow the licensing process to be far smoother, and the profits from adding him as DLC could make it worth it. I mean its rare to come across anyone who's voting who doesn't include him, so it's obvious he has a HUGE fanbase willing and able to purchase him as DLC.
Popularity certainly isn't his shortcoming, you can say that again. It's just going to boil down to whether they can work it out legally or not and in such a way that makes it profitable to do so. I'd like to see him included myself, so I hope they do, but it's not going to surprise me if for whatever reason they can't work it out.
I actually played some MvC3 tonight, and because i knew what the characters did, i beat someone who had played MvC2, and MvC3 since it had been out. On his xbox. Never played it before, just knew how to counter things.
If you're wanting a free WoW clone, Runes of Magic does a better job than Rift.
After actually playing it, its not so bad.
Although I still despise the graphic style.
I'm surprised people are bitching about the roster, graphic style, etc.
At least compared to MvC2, this roster is SO much better. Half the roster isn't complete trash, and there are no duplicates (asides from Akuma/Ryu, but not really). 36 is a pretty high number with the level of detail and the balanced nature of the game. I'm not extremely good at this game but I am fairly competent, and there wasn't a single character that I thought was really bad, was outclassed by another character, had a similar strategy to another, or had a major flaw that could be exploited in battle. Except for Phoenix until I found out about her Dark Phoenix Resurrection because she only has 420000 vitality. Obviously there are match-up issues, one character is better than another in a particular fight, but that adds strategy to create a balanced team.
The graphics shouldn't of been hand-drawn, and I applaud Capcom (which I rarely do) for doing so. 3D models have much more depth to the movements opposed to 2D, when I play Blazblue it just seems like the character models are shallow and their movements and attacks look unnatural and uninteresting. Even something as easy as Morrigan's swaying forearms when standing still adds much more depth and impressiveness than it would of been hand-drawn. And the 3D itself isn't generic, it has that SSF4 style to it while retaining a comic style that shines through. I can't really describe it, and that's what's amazing about it: Originality.
Even when not transformed, Phoenix can be very scary a character. She requires a lot more work than others at times, but it pays off tremendously.
:<3: Phoenix.
yuck, Jill looks bad. Both Shuma's & Jill's Trailers are out. Shuma looks awesome, Jill on the other hand.....
I haven't played this game in over a week...
Bless me father for I have sinned
