Why are you still using 7? That's risky.
I installed win10 enterprise 64bit on an old Toshiba netbook and it runs better than the win7 starter 32bit that was originally on it.

Maybe I'll gab 10 at some point, just hasn't been an issue. Mostly just for shows and old emulation anywho.
I like using Windows 10 as my remote desktop on my phone and tablet when I'm not gaming.

Windows 10 is far from perfect, I use it because I want to know what I'm critizing. I don't judge things without using them.
You can get linux distros built for just emulation.
With a media player too? I think retropie has kodi already there. maybe some of the other distros you can have some sort of media player too...I think batocera is debian based? :thot: and then there's recalbox & lakka.
I've tested batocera on a tiny netbook...32bit atom with only 1.5GB ram...and it's pretty easy to use. The hardware means I've only really looked at emulating old 8bit systems, which was my intention anyway.
I did try testing the other distros I mentioned, but out of all of them batocera worked straight away on the crappy hardware I was trying to use. Lakka installed but the screen was messed up, apparently a common issue that can be fixed by ssh and editing configuration...meh I couldn't be bothered :lol
Recalbox and retropie installed but not everything on the netbook was working (touchpad and I think one sd card slot wasn't working...maybe some other shit idk, I moved on).
Do you mean hosts, man?
Weekend! Time to drink all my alcohol!
:dancing:
Welp, Amazon fucked me over and I got offered a job somewhere else...Walked into Amazon and threw the uniform on the desk, told them to fuck off and walked out. Not the best way to end that relationship but fuck them. Now I'm working for a company with one of my buddies so that's always nice.
Can you toss me a link to some pirate 64bit version of Win10?
I honestly don't have any idea what to look for, but wouldn't mind giving it a spin. My brother has been offering me a legit copy of the basic version for free, but I don't want to waste the product key if it doesn't run or some shit.
Awesomeo
:pirate:
Win10 minimum requirements state like 3GHz or something cpu but it will work on much much lower, right down to 1.6GHz Atom. I managed to get 64bit working with only 2GB ram (1.6GHz) but I actually used 4GB to install initially then swapped back to 2GB later on after testing stability and checking for updates.
^No that isn't my machine.
But my current main lappy is only 1.65GHz DC AMD with radeon graphics and 8GB ram, win10 64bit runs much better than win7 64bit on this.
Learn how to fry crickets.
The newest version of Firefox is blazing fast or my new PC makes it that way. 0_o
Thankies
I'll probably do that in the end, if it works ok. I'm not going to feed it all my personal details, so I don't give a fuck if it's some botnet OS.
If it doesn't work ok it'd kill the product key on a system that can't run Win10. And these keys can't transfer to a new system. So try before I buy~
Yeah. I'm looking forward to having more than 3.?GB of ram. Pissed me off when I bought a graphics card not that long ago and I lost ram when I installed it, because of the 32bit 4GB ram cap.
My Uncle asked me to make this picture of gnomes on harnessed jackrabbits for him. He is kind of "off the grid" so I respectfully kept this offline. When he saw the print, however, he asked me to share it online:

Spoiler warning:
That's fucking awesome. I'm going to set it as my background for a tick if you don't mind?
So I installed Linux Mint on the Laptop. Under Win10 it was constantly freezing whilst shit was going on in the background (programs starting, trying to update etc). It's like a totally different machine under Mint. I click on things and they open more or less straight away, not five minutes later. I'm still finding my way around, but I don't regret ditching Win10.
 You should try out Lubuntu too, it uses about 0% resources to run and is lightning fast plus generates virtually no heat. You can dual boot into it with Mint. Also, installing Wine is a good idea, it's currently more compatible with Windows than Windows.
One thing you'll notice using Mint if you use your laptop in bed is that it generates very little heat to run, your hardware is in heaven compared to Windows and will have a much longer lifespan. It instantly rejuvenates old computers and your PC would thank you every day for running Mint. If you really want to give an old PC a maximum performance boost under heavenly conditions for your hardware you can run Lubuntu. You don't have to get rid of Mint, they can both be installed as a dual boot option.
Win10 on my 1.65GHz laptop doesn't act like that, I don't get freezes even when I'm torrenting + transferring files to ext HDD and browsing. But yeah finding stuff after being on 7 for so long was pissing me off for months.
There was an update I got fairly recently that reinstalled onedrive
How old is this PC and how much ram does it have?
I've tried different versions of Linux in the past, Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin, Puppy, but always gone back to Windows. Mint isn't a million miles away from a Windows set-up, so it makes the transition easier. I might try Lubuntu on VM first.
I can't remember when it was bought, probably 5 or 6 years ago and it wasn't that good then.
Edit:
Laptop spec:
Intel Celeron CPU N3050 @ 1.60GHz 4GB RAM
@Jackhammer
Mint is full-featured and less bare-bones than Lubuntu, you might not like how over-simplistic Lubuntu is. Mint is the best Linux distro, if you want to squeeze out maximum performance on a Debian-based distro Lubuntu is at your disposal. Since it's so lightweight, Lubuntu is a good choice for a minimalistic virtual machine anyway.
So I decided to test my new PC on ethernet, I'm getting ~300 mbps download and ~500 upload.

How's ye olde RE4 treating you DL?
Oh that stupid knife fight :lol
It was neat the first time around but after all these releases on nearly a dozen systems now they should just give you the option to skip it if you so desire.
Hows everyone?
I didn't mean the qte fight, it's the proper boss fight where you can hit him with all your ammo (including rpg) but he doesn't die. But if you can get him into stun lock with the knife he dies quickly, trick is getting him into the stun lock...dunno if I'm capable of doing that now it might take numerous deaths
