Played some more Batman AA today. :yawn: It's not boring, just very, very slow.
Does it ever get used at all?
The primary reason for the glitches, other than dust buildup, was a wearing down of the 10NES lockout circuit on the 72-pin connector. The more you used it, the faster it would wear down, to the point where legitimate games might not even run anymore because the lockout pin didn't recognize it as a legitimate game.
The best way I've ever found around it is to use a Game Genie.
Seriously. I hardly ever have to blow in my games to get them started, and I haven't had it glitch in years.
Pretty much how I have my living room set up. I lie on the couch with my TV just at a bit of an angle, and my laptop right next to me. It's pretty fair.
