Which is entirely true, PCs will continue to be around and can emulate the games while consoles croak after a fashion .

They can be repaired in many cases.
With PC you get into emu updates for compatibility, various setup issues etc etc.

Yes PCs will continue to be around but just look at some old PC games. With many of them you can't just throw them onto a new system and play them, in some cases it's actually a hell of a lot easier to have an old PC system and OS to play older games. So old hardware isn't such a bad thing.
Emulation is more about making games look better, besides emus that try to stay true to original hardware...which I don't really understand. Just use the proper hardware ffs :wacko:

With consoles you only really have to worry repairing them if there's a problem.
As for sound systems: even PS2/Xbox have optical audio output.

Hell even one of my PSX consoles even has s-video output which is better than composite.

Its a official enhanced frontend for the libretro core system where its made to be as accurate as possible and usable on most PC/OS and mobile hardware optimized for ARM technology.

Consoles use specialized parts so when you run out of those you are SOOL. :wacko:

Regarding my comment bout hooking to a sound system I meant just hook it up to a sound system and have fun, why I said have it your way and not be confined to the original hardware where you can not have it the way you want it.

When things like that happen, like Dreamcast laser lens being hard to find, some other work around presents itself. Like an adaptor kit to replace the optical drive unit with a memory card interface.

But for PSX and PS2 there are so many of them around that are free or dirt cheap there's no reason to repair. Just use another console.

Besides optical drive units I can't think of any "specialised parts" that would normally wear that couldn't be identified and replaced by someone with the skills/knowledge of Jazz for example.

Maybe it's hyped because it's actually a good game? The same reason it was released on 4 platforms. Just a thought.

Your other points aren't really valid now. Retro style games are liked by many people but not many want the old restrictions.
Rail shooters in particular aren't that popular anymore, although I didn't mind the RE rail shooters I played on the Wii a few years back.

First time I played RE Revelations I got surprised a few times by some enemies but not scared, there's a difference. But after playing through a few times, and playing heaps of Raid mode you know enemy locations and behaviours.
