Who says I've entered? :wacko:
I don't draw with crayons. ;_;
Even if a submission is sketched in blood, charcoal and tears, I will still end up posting the winning submission. :P And shortly after that (hopefully) there will be the ink interpretation on my body.
Yes. This is the truth. Yes yes.
Here are the few sketches I worked on today. I decided to use the good kirby, the KO'ed goomba, the star, and the smaller sword design in my final piece. Drawing that window was no problem, but placement... :S
My submission is not yet in this bunch, sorry. :P
Wow...how my parents scanner sucks. >.>
Just ignore this, it was only practice:
Spoiler warning:
Most of the content is will be from this page:

The window will not be at the top:

And a glimpse of some of the final:
Spoiler warning:
Wow, Jazz. I wish I had more time to put into mine, because I'm pretty sure you're going to crush it. :sa-frown:
And here I was starting to wonder if we'd gotten an extension for no reason. :wacko:
My submission.
Spoiler warning:
Im pretty sure I lost by THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS MUCH
I definitely like your Kirby better than mine, and I didn't bother with any lovely looking pencil shading (which is like the only thing I'm good at) since I was trying to get nice, clear lines and color. It looks like you're using a computer program as well, which I lack the ability to do.
You're so going to beat me.
I'm pretty sure you should be banned.
Ill have my final before the 9th is over, don't worry. :lol
You may think these look nice, but its more about placement, since your specifications are so strict, and also how well the tattooist can ink it.
What I have on paper in front of me may be my best sword ever, but I am worried the atmosphere will be too shallow. What I mean shallow is that there are no vanishing points, and it seems more 2D than is good.
I have a general idea of what I want, but if there is something that obviously just doesn't work, then as long as most of the elements are incorporated into the design in some fashion, then that's all that I am looking for. :P Since this is the first time I've ever gotten someone else to design a tattoo for me, it's kind of hard to envision how to tell them what I want while at the same time giving them free license.
I plan on closing this by the time that I get back from work tomorrow (around 5PM PST. It is currently 12:34AM PST, when I post this... post. Thing). So as long as it is in by then, or at least reasonably close to, I will still allow it. That sword, from what I saw, looked fucking amazing, and the Kirby sketch was really freaking cool.
Mine is nothing but 2D. I obviously need to drop out of school and become an artist so I can have time to beat Jazz in a contest.
jkno, I'd rather have a decent paycheck every week or two. :wacko:
I'll check in when Drag posts again to see when you win, then no one ever has to see mine! ^^;;;
So I've decided to extend this to midnight, my time, just to make it worthwhile. And to give Jazz that one last chance to make his submission on the deadline, 'cause I liked what I saw.
So Jazz, you have approximately 7 more hours. :P Better get crackin'.
... :doink:
Holy shit. That is sexy.
K, I have a sub mission now. :P
I have the original (all different sketches spliced together), the Blackened copy and a color one too.
Spoiler warning:
And then heres something fun:
Spoiler warning:
Grandma's arm is looking rough.
Jazz it's clear you've put a lot of effort into this. Nice work, bro. :)
inb4 crosshatch copies it in CRAYON! :wacko:
Quite lovely indeed, Jazz. :nod:
Of course, I find it amusing that everyone wrapped the star around the sword, but not everyone tried the whole star-wrapping-around-the-arm-and-finishing-on-the-wrist-thing. :wacko:
... I shall repeat. Holy shit. :doink: I'm glad you asked for the extension, Jazz, 'cause yours and Milady's are pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. I actually do have a tougher decision to make than I had initially thought when I created this contest.
Since we aren't waiting on any more submissions, I'm going to call the contest CLOSED, go stretch and soak my poor poor muscles, and contemplate the winner. :wacko:
Okay. For the purpose of announcing the "winner," I am double posting after only an hour or so. SORRY ADMINS PLEASE DON'T HURT ME
Anyways. Some of you guys might think that Jazz is the obvious winner, but they also didn't see Milady's entry. :P It actually was a helluva lot closer than just "HOLY SHIT THAT IS AMAZING JAZZ PLEASE USE MY CREDIT CARD LOLZ I LOVE YOU." The clean cut, cartoony style that Jazz made there is definitely what I'm looking out -- it will fit well with the other two pieces on that arm. The Master Sword looks awesome, and should complement the sword on my left arm quite nicely. The Goomba getting hit by the star was a fantastic effect, and the ? Block at the top looks really nifty.
However, no one but me saw Milady's entry. Which was definitely a heavy contender. The window that she made, at the top of the Master Sword, is freakin' cool. She added characters and items that I never would have thought of, and managed to sneak in one of my favorite characters from the Nintendo 64 into the design in a way that looked freaking wonderful, and I didn't even ask her to do that. =) There are certain "additional" aspects of her design that I liked more than Jazz's, but the core design of Jazz's is just freaking wonderful.
So, for the purpose of this contest, the winner is:
JAZZMARAZZ
Jazz, check your PM inbox. Milady, you too.
Congratulations, Jazz. You certainly deserve it! ^^;;;
Wow. That is some excellent work there, sir. Congratulations are in order.
Edit: Just read the whole thing. Would've loved to see Milady's submission as well. Oh well. :wacko:
good job Jazz!
hey guys dont get mad at me for using crayon, I also did it on the bus and that was what I had. Im just lazy.
Can we see Milady's or can you at least PM it to me, Milady? I want to see it. Don't worry I won't use it for anything, or claim it's mine. I just really want to see it. :)
If not... It's cool. :(
When I get the actual tattoo done -- attempting to track down a colour printer right now so I can go and book this today -- I am going to post an update to this so you guys can see the finished result, and the two entries that fed into the design. So you might have to wait a little bit, but if you're really curious you can see it then. :P
I should really unstick this thread.
Mine is really terrible compared to Jazz's. It's the first thing I've drawn for at least two years, only the third thing I've ever used color in (pencils, here, since graphite pencils are my preferred tools), and only the second or third thing I can recall drawing as simple lines with pen. The star is completely asymmetrical, the coins are grotesquely shaped, the colors were terribly planned (or not planned at all, I just drew the shaped, colored them, and realized that they weren't grouped very well). Also, what's up with that really girly star dust stuff, this is going on a male arm, Milady. I could complain all day about it. :wacko:
For anyone who's terribly curious though, I suppose you can take a peek.
Also, I hope you don't mind Drag, but Jazz and I have decided that the next time you have a tattoo contest, we're working together. So we're just going to get started on designing tattoos for the rest of your body. ^^;;;
It's good that you're being so hard on yourself, since it can lead to improvement, but it's really not that bad at all. The stuff you listed are valid complaints, but in the end, relatively minor things. A bit more focus and a ruler can solve those issues easily. :wacko:
I'm thinking something Pokeball related. :wacko:
Oh, I also forgot to mention that I was just rushing a quick sketch out since it was due the next day. That is, until Jazz sauntered in here and got an extension. :wacko: It was a fun little project, but I essentially ran out of time to work on it, extension or no. Next week is spring break for me, which means I've had a pile of projects to finish and exams to study for during the past couple of weeks. It's nice to just pick up a pencil again after so long though, whether the result is terrible compared to the rest of my sketchbook or not. ^^;;;
DO IIIITTT!!! :D
I actually want to get most of my torso done, over the years. I have one sketch that I still want to use, but beyond that everything is just conceptual at the moment. DRAW TO YOUR HEART'S CONTENT AND I SHALL INK THEM PERMANENTLY INTO MY SKIN.
Since I'm getting surgery done on it, shouldn't it be a Hoberman Sphere? :wacko:
"I CHOOSE YOU... ELECTRODE!"
