The former.
BC, huh? I have a buddy up there...sent me some interesting 'local flora' in a recent swap...
I really dig Canada. I grew up near the border, (Upstate NY) so we went all the time..Quebec, Hartford, Parc Safari, Montreal, Toronto, etc...
(Really enjoyed Montreal as a young adult..heh heh...but we wont go there...there are 'kids' here...heh... ;))
Enjoy, Gyps. The NES will always hold a place in my heart...along with SNES, PS2, GBA, and Master System.
The very first NES game that I ever owned, outside of Mario/Duck Hunt, was Castlevania. I got it in my Easter basket when I was 12 or 13....one of the last EBs I ever got, and one of the finest. :)
Error - I'll just assume that you have air conditioning.... ?
:4x:
Yep. We covered all the windows and turned out all the lights, makes it a lot cooler.
Yar, BC. Been here for a little over ten years now. And I'm really hoping "local flora" means exactly what I think it means. :lol
I like it. Not too hot, not too cold. I'm extreme West Coast, though -- island in the Pacific, just outside of Vancouver.
Castlevania was one of the first games I got for my NES, too. Got it as a Christmas gift for the family when I was 3 (soo... 1991, give or take). Came with Mario, Zelda, Tetris, and a couple of other games that are escaping me right now. We picked up Castlevania shortly thereafter -- probably when garage sale season started up. :<3: that game.
120 dollars? Wow, Sword.
Aww.Poor Sword.
By the time I could really start enjoying the games for it, its life cycle was over. I do remember cutting out letters from Kellogg's or Post cereal boxes (can't remember which brand) to spell out Nintendo, then mailing them in to get a free game. That's how I got Kirby's Adventure. :]
We can't water our lawns.
Love Castlevania, myself. Well, except when the games go 3-D...not my scene..ughhh. The GBA and DS versions are among my favorite games of all time. Period. I was right at the 'prime age' during the NES' rise in the US. Grand times. Scrimped for months to buy Faxanadu for $42.99...heh...
And, yes, 'local flora' means EXACTLY that, heh. I will probably retire to either Canada, Upstate NY, or Maine...just havent decided yet...
Sure miss the Canadian beers and grocery stores....man...grand stuff. And poutine...cant live without a good poutine..
Sword - Its not your 'fault' that you were born after the fact, heh... I'd say that getting our NES was a pretty jarring experience for my young mind....right up there with seeing Star Wars in the theatres in the late 70s...un-fu$king-real...yep.
Yeah, I feel bad for kids that grew up after the nes-snes era. Those were some good times.
My week isn't complete without a good helping of poutine. I kind of agree with you for 3D Castlevania's, although I did enjoy Lords of Shadow. I honestly didn't really enjoy the Metroidvania style games that much -- still not entirely sure why. They were fun, I just really couldn't get into them. Castlevania III is still one of my favourites, ever.
I never had an SNES growing up, and the N64 was where I really started getting into games. I played probably 30-40 titles on my NES (I think we owned 20 games, give or take), but the N64 was when I started playing games religiously and getting immersed in the worlds. We used to rent games every weekend and hang out in my basement and play for hours.
Currently trying to decide if I want to buy Dyad or not. $11.99 on PSN right now. :thot:
I was born at the end of the seventies, I don't remember it, I grew up in the 80's. The first two Star Wars was before my time.

Kinda reminds me of Rez.
Goldeneye was an excellent game. First titles- Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time
93 degrees at almost 6:00
Glad I'm not the one on call this week :P
Yeah,it's brutal out. Hey Sprung.
Sword - It was a BALL, man...I saw it at the BlackPoint Theatre, I recall it very clearly, and the pa system kept announcing: "Showings at 6, 9, and midnight...its STAR WARS!" heh heh...
It was a proper old-time theatre...dark and dank...smoking allowed...NOT like the sterile/tiny cinemas of modern times..
Whats up, Sprung. Damn, man, too hot...keeps you in employment, yet still SUCKS....:nosweat:
THe NES...... So many memories of playing it at my grandmas house, they still have it, but it has the blinking red light problem.
Duck Hunt and SMB, that is all.
Yeah, I actually started gamin during the PSX/Dreamcast era.
My first game was Dino Crisis, followed by the old Sonics for our Sega Genesis.
Commander Sprung, have you beaten Mafia II yet ?
