Ok, let's see how people's knowelege about games spreads~
I like mostly action games, and action/jrpgs. I'll try to list a few of the games that I liked most, and if anyone can suggest something that fits in, please DO.
Action/adventure:
Sly Cooper series
Zone of the Enders Series [of 2 games?...]
Klonoa Series
Sonic Series
Prince of Persia Sands of Time
Shadow of the Colossus
Devil may Cry series
Rpgs/action rpgs:
Valkyrie Profile 1 & 2
Grandia
Kingdom Hearts series
Seiken Densetsu/Legend of mana series
Tales "of Namco" series [as long as it's in english...]
.hack//GU Series
Zelda Series
Monster Hunter Series
Basically, anything that has a lot of action, and has either anime/cartoonish characters is really awesome. Anyone care to suggest a challenge? >¦3
Platforms available are PS1/2/3/P, 3/DS, Wii
Is there any Fable style game, that was launched for the PC, at least until 2006? My PC is crap, and I don't have any other console. My system specs:
Windows Xp Professional (SP3)/Windows 7 Ultimate (32bit) (Multi-boot)
Intel Celeron D 2.66Ghz
1.5Gb RAM 533mhz
GeForce 6200 256mb
2x 80Gb SATA HDD
The game has to have at least this as minimum requirements. I'm poor and I don't work, so I cannot buy anything better right now. I've already played The Witcher on this machine, so this isn't a choice (I consider this a little similar to Fable).
Uh, yes, that's what I said. I want people to suggest games with the same style. I've already played and finished both Fable and The Witcher: Enhanced Edition on the same PC. I already know that Fable III and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings don't work here, so, anything similar for me to play?
You can try Risen, I think it has the same requirements as The Witcher. But I think it's a harder game though, might want to try it out. Here's a link with the minimum requirements: http://gamesystemrequirements.com/games.php?id=949.
I second Risen. It's basically Gothic 2 with better graphics. Be prepared for a somewhat awkward combat system that you'll eventually get used to (hopefully). Also, the first few hours of the game can be quite challenging, mostly due to the fact that in the beginning you're so weak that even a simple wolf will tear you a new one. At the same time though, it's even more satisfying when you do get better gear. In short, it's exactly like Gothic.
It may not work, because GTA IV got the same video card as "minimum requirement" (GeForce 7900), when I ran it on my computer, the smoke was big squares and glasses were all white. But I'll download the demo and see if it runs. Thanks.
Anyone reccommend me some good PS1 and PS2 RPGs. Preferably ones that have a real-time battle system, something along the lines of Kingdom Hearts or Dark Cloud. Though I won't mind if some turn-based or other battle system is used. Just as long as the game is good.
What have you already played? I'm way too tired/zoned out right now but I'll definitely post some stuff when I'm coherent.
PS2 Tales games if you haven't already played them. Tales of the Abyss is probably your best bet. (If you know Japanese, then Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut is also pretty awesome.)
But yeah, list what you've already played. That'd help in narrowing things down.
Well I've played Kingdom Hearts, Dark Cloud, Final Fantasy(they don't use a real-time bs). Basiclly the games I've played with real-time BS are the KH series, DC series and maybe a couple others. So shoot me whatever has a real-time bs. I hear Xenosaga is good.
Xenosaga is good if you like watching your games. For real though it's worth playing all 3.
I'm just going to recommend stuff, not all have real-time battle systems but I will exclude some that I would otherwise include if you were heavy into srpgs. You can check if you are interested.
First off not really an RPG but the Zone of the Enders games are fantastic.
Xenosaga 1-3
Suikoden 1, 2 and 5. 3 and 4 are okay.
Wild Arms 1, 2 and 5.
Magna Carta Tears of Blood
Atelier Iris 1, 2. 3 is okay.
Mana Khemia 1, 2
Disgaea 1, 2
GrimGrimoire
Eternal Poison
Rogue Galaxy
Radiata Stories
Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King
Edit: Durrrrr...Star Ocean 3 obviously.
Any Fire Emblem game. More specifically Path of Radiance (GC) and Radiant Dawn (Wii) they're both good games.
Path of Radiant is pretty much the setup for Radiant Dawn. It was fun and I've played and beat the game multiple times since I bought it on its release date.
Really? I thought the exact opposite. I had a lot of fun with Path of Radiance but only *thought* Radiant Dawn was worth playing once(even though I've actually finished it 3 times :P)
Icr if those games have multiple endings though I don't think those do. I usually only play a game once if it only has one ending. There are rare exceptions though.
not ps1 or ps2 and not real time battle system but the battle system is unique so my recommended rpg would be radiant historia for the D.S. if you havent already played it.
Thanks for the suggestions. I forgot to mention, I've played Rogue Galaxy, great game. I guess even those of turn-based nature would be good. I'm really looking for good RPGs. I missed out on some gems back in the day.
I need PC suggestions. FPS are fine as long as there is a single player mode and the slightest attempt at plot.
Already have it but thx.
There is PC version of Last Remnant, right? Are there any other jRPG ports from PS3 or X360 on PC?
Since I am a Retro-Sonic-fan I would suggest the Mega Drive (Genesis) ones
any day of the week, especially S&K, which was, for me, just the best one ever! ^^
I also like many of the Pokemon titles, but I suggest them only if you can play in an emulator
at above than average speeds, because the pace is kinda slow, and can be time consuming.
...
But there are some really nice games to play with other people.
I have a lot of fun when playing with friends or my family members.
Here are some multiplayer suggestions, to have fun at parties:
» Mario Kart 64 ... (if you can play with 4 people it is just crazy! )
» Super Smash Bros ... (just make sure not to put in your group the guy that always chooses Fox and kicks everyone out for some reason... xD )
» Mario Party 2 ... (use cheats to unlock the mini-games... because the board-type game takes too much time... :nosweat: )
Other games I played, for 2 players:
» Mystical Ninja II (N64, again. The cooperative mode is interesting to try. Just don't get frustrated if your partner keeps dying like me... )
» Pokemon Emerald (there was a GBA with a link mode... but is too much work to use codes to get pokemon with good moves in the boxes...)
(if you try it, though, get a piece of cardbox and make a few cuts in it so you can "insert" it in your screen to divide the windows. ;) )
» Guilty Gear X2 (for PC... my brother made me play this one... xD ... I took never-ending beatings and the game totally destroys your gamepads! :PP)
(very fast paced, but make sure you have a nice bond with the person you are up against or you can have... family issues... ^^')
I am sure there are more but my memory is getting rusty... (due to aging?)
(Gosh, I really have to get myself a job... :PP)
Well, the PS2 version of ToD is pretty brilliant. Not sure about the PSX one as I've never played it.
Yeah I'm lazy and wanted to play in English. I saved quite a bit by getting a copy with a messed up front insert.
Just plain got Eternia for a decent price considering it's the US release.
Anyone give me some good DS games of these genres. Action, RPG, Platform, Action.
As said in my sig, I'm looking for ps1/ps2 games for the emulator to pass the time. I guess I missed this thread haha. But I can be more detailed than what I left in the sig so anyway
Preferrably for the Ps1/Ps2 platform. I can only understand English, so subs/dubs please.
I'm cool with many games but I REALLY suck at fighting and strategy/tactic games. I'm not so good with horror stuff either.
I guess to be more specific, any rpg game. I can deal with turn base rpg if exploring out of battles have something that clicks; or I don't have to spend a lot of time level grinding. I don't seem to like rpgs with invisible monster encounters. A game that's not very difficult or ridiculously easy either.
I tried:
-Star Ocean: Till the End of Time (halfway [~ok game])
-.hack// G.U. 1-3 (Finished + [enjoyed])
-.hack// Infection to Quarantine (Part 1 [enjoying])
-Chrono Cross (Halfway [great game])
-DragonQuest 8 (Stopped ~1/4th through)
-Persona 3 FES (Stopped about 3/4s of part 1 but [nice game])
-Persona 4 (Finished and replayed [great game])
I was told about:
-Xenosaga
-Rogue Galaxy
And maybe some others but I never got to downloading.
I could never get into Final Fantasy. It's not awful, but I never really could seem to play it through.
As far as PC RPGs to pass the time:
-Fable 1 (Was great)
-Fable 3 (Was pretty fun too... But doesn't seem to work anymore >:)
-Elder Scrolls: Skyrim (I'm not too into it)
-Fallout 3 & New Vegas (Both were interesting)
-Stalker 1-3 (Vanilla wise, many guns suck. Gets fun halfway kinda thing)
I hear people suggesting Risen so I'll try that. Haven't exactly found an rpg style melee/magic/arrow thing I liked though.
If you can match these ps1/ps2 games I enjoyed that would be just as great too
-Spyro 1-3 (Hated the new versions)
-Conflict: Desert Storm 1, 2, Vietnam, Global Terror
-Ace Combat
-Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring (For the Free Roam aspect)
-Kingdom Hearts
I swear I looked over the master list multiple times and just looking at names I can't really seem to decide to just download them. I've youtubed just a few really. Sorry guys if I sound kinda picky.
- Grandia 2/3
- Shadow Hearts - Covenant (only game in the series that I liked and finished)
And if you don't like Final Fantasy try... Final Fantasy XII (set combat speed to max). It don't have random encouters so you will not get tired with blinking screen every two seconds and you have plenty AI customization options so you party will heal/buff you when it's necessary (not like in Kingdom Hearts where Donald and Goofy could use your all your potions in single fight).
On PC you should definitely check Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines because it's amazing.
Well, I could suggest (mainly RPGs):
for PSX:
Alundra 1 + 2
Crash Bandicoot 1 - 3 (since you said you liked Spyro)
Grandia (and second Grandia 2 and 3)
Parasite Eve 1 + 2
Star Ocean 2 - Second Story
Tales of Destiny
Tales of Eternia
Vagrant Story
for PS2:
Dark Cloud 2 (much better than the first)
Kingdom Hearts 2 :lol
Magna Carta
Odin Sphere
for PC:
The Elder Scrolls: Morrowind
Whoops, sorry I suggested N64 games, but have my options to not show signatures...
(Slow Internet connections, what can I say? :P)
Okay, so...
I played Mega Man X4 recently on ePSXe. I had that one in mind because I remember playing it in a collegue's
house in the 5th grade or so. He could not pass a few of the levels and I had a reputation back then... ^^'
But it is better than I thought. And has a story in the middle too, but I would recommend
the Japanese verision (Rockman X4) because the voicings are much better.
(And the game is quite tough so it an be challenging, if you like challenges. :revwacko: )
And some of the bust-a-moves can be entertaining too. ^^
(And Crash Bandicoots, although they can be a little frustrating... )
EDIT: :lol K.K, we were posting in the same thread! xD
(yours appeared under mine right after I saved the post. :PP)
Hilariously enough, I was going to recommend FFXII, VtM Bloodlnies and Shadow Hearts: Covenant. I guess I was beaten to it. But seriously, do play them, they're pretty great.
There's also Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer on PC. It's the first expansion pack. If you want a Baldur's Gate-ish game that isn't a generic fantasy plot/setting like Baldur's Gate, this is your game. It's a bit more like Planescape: Torment, if I had to compare it to anything, although the actual plot is still rather predictable. Speaking of which, Planescape fucking Torment. Play it!
