Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds (XBLA)
I think I beat it, on easy. Levelled up the first character to level 25, replaying on normal now. Had to stop playing because my thumb hurts from mashing X. Really like this game!
Castlevania: Symphony of the night with 200%( trust me, it's possible) AGAIN.Also beat Monster Hunter Freedom Unite(well, the offline parts anyway, I'm playing it using a psp emu for android)
Darksiders 2 finished. Very abrupt ending. And the final boss was kind of a pushover compared to the boss preceding it. Just gonna quickly go through the DLC dungeons and then I can uninstall this.
Holy shit that's pretty bad! :lol I guess we will have to wait for Darksiders 5 for the epic conclusion to the saga.
Well the IP is now owned by Nordic Games (basically the remnants of JoWooD Entertainment) so it might take time to get a sequel. And I don't have much faith in them really but I hope they can prove me wrong. The future of the series is looking pretty grim... D:
Scratch one for The Amazing Spiderman (3DS/360)
Booooooooooooooooring, so now to never play it again
Metro Last Light (Xbox 360)
Really enjoyed this game, I thought the graphics and atmosphere were excellent.
It got really glitchy around the swamp level onwards for me though, not game breakingly so, but quite annoying still.
Torchlight
Finally got it done after months of procrastinating
I have finished one route of Bastion, there's 2 final choices that affects the game's ending and how you fix, or destroy the very objective you sought for the whole game. It's touching really, a civil war turned into a calamity, and you are in the heart of it all.
I'd definitely recommend it, it's easy enough to play, but if you want, you can make it nearly impossible to play as well. The story is well paced like a audiobook with pop-ups (the ones you can destroy  ) and you can always take a break or two when you're on the ropes. It may be linear, but this is one game that you don't notice it that much.
15 dollars well spent.
Rogue Legacy (PC) First run-through. Working on the 2nd one right now. Phew. Tough shit. :S
Ratchet & Clank: Into The Nexus :platinum:
Great little game. It's an epilogue to the Futures series. Not quite a full fledged title, but I'd say it's still about 6 hours on your initial playthrough, plus another 10 or so if you want to complete everything, depending on difficulty and how much exploring you do. Challenge Mode is still as fun as ever, and if you want to max out all your weapons you're probably looking at 2.5 playthroughs to get enough bolts and experience to do so.
My only complaint is that the Challenge Arena wasn't nearly as difficult as I would have liked. Even in Hard difficulty and my first playthrough, I was able to make it through almost all of the challenges within my first two attempts. Kind of a disappointment in that regard. Otherwise, if you've liked any of the other Ratchet & Clank games, Into the Nexus is right up your alley. If they announce a full-fledged title for PS4, I'll buy that beast this instant. I adore this series. :<3:
Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm. Campaign was worse than the first, which was a strong start, it was also significantly easier for me, someone who never plays zerg and for this game just endlessly built units without considering optimal builds. The campaign also lacked choices, which was a nice direction which Wings of Liberty introduced.
F1 2013 (PS3)
Don't care what anyone says, beating season challenge on hard, 1 season of career mode winning the drivers & constructors championships and earning a medal in every event in scenario mode = finished with in my eyes.
Knack (PS4).
This will forever be remembered as the first game I beat for the PS4. Not a bad game by any means, I really enjoyed it until around chapter 8, then the game just started to overstay its welcome. There's 13 chapters in this game, with 4 stages each. Usually I would bitch about games not being long enough, but the arsenal you have in this game is a bit limited so slogging through the last few chapters got a little old. The environments are nice and varied though, which makes the game easy on the eyes. All in all, it's worth a play, I definitely got my moneys worth
6.5/10
I think that is the sentiment that echoes throughout the gaming community. Enjoyable but too basic. So Flava, you got yourself a PS4? Be sure to tell us if you intend to stream anything.
Beat Tomb Raider (2013) today. I enjoyed it (much to Gare's dismay :P), missed two trophies which sucks so need to beat it quickly again someday. Not sure what to play now. Armored Core 5 probably!
Thanks to Theo and another friend the LittleBigPlanet Karting :platinum: is mine :D
Castlevania Lords of Shadow, including DLC. Great visuals paired with mediocre and repetitive gameplay. Bunch of stupid shit here and there, like the Chupacabra bits, which is the worst thing I've seen in a game in a long time. Jumping puzzles with bad air control on Gabriel, leading to awkwardness. Boring platforming, repetitive combat, and occasionally silly fixed camera angles that make stuff harder. Titan battles were lame. Story was bleh, and so was the writing. Aslo, ugggh the Portal reference, lolol we so funny guise. Generic as hell soundtrack, to the point that I actually muted it and listened to classic Castlevania mp3s while playing.
Overall it's still not exactly a bad game, but it's not a particularly good one, either. It's just that everything is so dull and uninspired. I hope MercurySteam improves stuff with LoS2 because this first one only proved that they're not very good at making video games. I spent more time being bored and slightly frustrated than actually having fun.
There, I'm done ranting.
Wow, I couldn't disagree more with pretty much all you said
Aside from the fixed camera which is archaic (like the first RE games. There, I said it ), I think the game was really good. Especially the music and the story. And that coming from someone who doesn't really enjoy the GoW type of games. Really looking forward to see what LoS2 has to offer.
I'm agreeing with Cookie on this one. While the game wasn't perfect, about the only problems I had with it were the fixed camera shots and that the combat could sometimes get a bit stale after a while. Otherwise, I thought it was a great game. The story wasn't amazing, but it was still pretty good. I didn't play the DLC though, so I'm not sure how that might change my opinions on the overall story... I should do that before LOS2 comes out...
You just say that because MercurySteam is Spanish. I dunno, I really, really wanted to love it, which is why I stuck with it until the end. I had more fun with Darksiders 2 honestly.
I still wanna try the second one simply because I want to play as Dracula. And because I'm willing to give them a second chance.
Btw I'm not the only one with these complaints, plenty of other people online sharing similar views.
I got your back Gare. I actually didn't even finish the game.
I expected so much when I heard it was Kojima; actually a bit apprehensive it would be 15 hours of cut scene and four hours' gameplay.
What it was was an uninspired repetitive GoW clone with no plot.
You do realize paying guys to suck your cock still qualifies you, right?
Nice try with the semantics trick though. ;)
Didn't know Drag was Spaniard too
Nonsenses, that's like saying you didn't like it because it wasn't Japanese enough. Or a VN
If you had more fun with Darksiders 2 is perhaps because you, like me, like Zelda more than GoW. Not really the same kind of game.
It's easy to accept a game may have flaws (in LoS, that's clearly the camera) but it's also fair to admit, that despite them, a game has it's own merits when they are there. In my opinion, as far as LoS respects, most of them are creative, including an accurate atmosphere with beautiful graphics and good design of characters, creatures and settings; a good story with an original approach to the characters, even if not in the canonic way some fans of the series may have wanted, after all you don't always get to play the story of Dracula; really nice touch; and finally, a truly inspired soundtrack (and not because I say it, it even won a prize, if I recall correctly).
Definitely, a good Castlevania in 3D after many tries. It was clear that the saga needed changes (some of them were not to be accepted by the most radical fans, that's was to be expected and there's where many of the few negative critics come from, I suspect). But to say that the game "only proved that they're not very good at making video games" is an unfortunate exaggeration, and as such, it's unfair. Fortunately for MercurySteam, the critics were overwhelmingly positive and Konami confided in them to create not just one game but a whole trilogy, now without Kojima.
And by the way, all Kojima did was making sure the game would be more like a movie, making the studio add more cinematic sequences and changing the angle of some cameras.
The Ultimate Edition, or whatever it's called would be a good way to remedy that. Despite it not being my favourite game genre (I still have 5 GoW games in my backlog to be played), I didn't hesitate to play it as soon as I had the chance. Give it a try if you can.
I went into this with a completely open mind, there was absolutely nothing that influenced my judgment beforehand. It matters little to me how many prizes the OST won or how much praise critics gave it, I personally just wasn't having that much fun while playing. Everything I said above was my 100% honest reaction to the game and I'm sorry if it hurt some feelings in the process; I wasn't trying to be grumpy for the sake of it. The game looks gorgeous visually and the ending plot twist is interesting, that much I admit. So yeah I really dunno what else to tell you.
I'm sort of leaning toward Gare's side of the fence on this one. LoS is one of those games that I really *wanted* but after a certain point found that I was forcing myself to finish it. I've picked it back up a few times intending to try a harder difficulty, but never stuck with it.
Practically all of my music "collection" comes from OSTs, but I can't seem to remember a single track from LoS. It's been a couple years since I've played it, of course, so take that as you will.
It's a decent enough game but it quickly feels repetitive. I remember frequently looking forward to see how much longer I could expect to trudge on.
EDIT: In fact, after posting I had to double check that I was even thinking of the same game after all that praise. :lol
No worries, no feelings hurt, of course, but I thought it was surprising to hear how severely you judged it, considering you are the only other person I know, aside from crusher and me, who liked Grin's Bionic Commando :P
I guess it's the sign of the times, the older we get, the more intransigent we become
Hmm, I think I'd still like Bionic Commando even today. Alice Madness Returns is also one of my favorites and that game gets some hate as well for being boring and having repetitive combat. And I only played that last year, actually. I dunno, it's kinda weird how these things work...
Btw have you tried Alice? Always wondered what you thought of it.
I'm am utterly shocked over the fact that people dislike games that I like. Oh lord what am I to do!? D:
Spoiler warning:
I still like it, if that helps  One of the reasons why I liked Just Cause 2 is because it felt like a less linear Bionic Commando
Alice is one of those games that I've been tempted to get more than once (mainly because I've heard Drag talking good things about it and because the designs are not the ordinary thing you see everywhere) but then I say to myself, Cookie, you have more games than time to play, go back home and enjoy what you already have :o So yeah, I haven't really played it yet.
No More Heroes. Got the normal ending. Fun game XD.
