Question Need help for burning (cd-r related)

Fist of all, I hope I posted this on the correct section.

I always used alcohol 120% for burning playstation and dreamcast image.
I was using Ritek(Ridata) cd-r Silver and blue (mainly because they are extremely cheap and always working good).

I runned out of these cd-r and I try to bought the same kind but the shop I have gone to changed the kind and sold me another Ritek brand(they are sealed with a red plastic and the cd surface has a white finish on the top and a blue gold surface on the back).

I was certain they will also work like the other kind but its not the case. They work like a charm for dreamcast games but for playsation, it is not. This is bad because I want to burn some playstation game too but I cant get them to work. When I put them on my playsation with a game killer enhancer, it recognises it like an audio cd.

I ask for your help to find a way to burn them properly so they will work correctlly. If there is a way?

Maybe I need to change the program I use for burning or change some options.

If anybody have an idea of waht I can do, I will be grateful. Also, if you need more info on what I use, etc, tell me.

Did you check the last few cd images for errors with CDMage?

You can find a guide for CDMage here in the guide called ISO Repair Guide

I recomend if the images are ok to use anything but Alcohol 120% and burn at the slowest possible speed you can and see if makes the difference.

    Thanks for answering!
    I'll try what you say.

Damn! I am really not lucky.
I just tried to fix the image of a game and corrected all errors.
After that, I burned it with clone cd at 8X. That is the slowest speed I can choose with my burner.
It was still unrecognised on my playstation.
Any other thing I can try?

It may just be that those CD's don't work with your PlayStation. Some discs do work better than others. Try searching if there are other brands available.
    Have you seen me before?

I guess I have no choice to buy another brand of cd-r.
    Any recommendations???
For the moment, cheaper is better.

Almost any will do then I have yet to come across a cheap CD-R that doesn't work, but brands I have used are DataWrite, Maxell, RiDisc and a ton of Unbranded ones.

As an extra note you can retune you PSX/PSone laser to help it read CD-R media by a small ajustable diode located on the ribbon connecting the laser to the main board, the diode is on the laser end of the ribbon (Use very small ajustments)

Have you tried to burn backups of games you knew that worked earlier. Like copy one of your backups and see if it works. It may work or it may not, but I think it is worth just one CD.

Sorry I have been away for a few days mainly becauase of my own PC problems (Sorted out now)

Glad you got your PSX retuned but for it to still not be working with newer back ups including those that you know work on your PSX

Did you get round to trying some cheaper CD-R's?

If you did try some cheap CD-R's and it still isn't working I'm wondering if the burning hardware has any faults with it or maybe some software related faults, I know Alcohol has been known to mess your ASPI drivers up in the past for other users.

P.S. There is a rule against double posting that I should have mentioned before now :/, anyway if you feel you want to add to any of your posts just use the edit function thats in the botom right of every post you make.

    Many thanks for your help.
Also, I now know about the double post.
I guess I will have to go buy another batch of cd. I am just a little busy these days but pretty confident it will solve my problem.

    Hey, don't trow away those CD's !!!!!!!!!!!!!
There is a way to make them work
If you have GameShark, simply turn ps on. Once you are in GameShark's menu, simply use "Start Game". GameShark starts game by opening *.exe file (or other - I was never too interested). No scaning - no freezing on sony logo That's it - the game works
That's what I did when PS thought my Ogre Battle cd was a music cd :/

I dont want to throw them away.
I dont have a game shark but a goldfinger that I plug in the parallel port of my psx. With this, I can play images of games that I burnt on cd. I just doenst play when they are burnt on the new cdrs I bought. My psx just cant recognizes them. Maybe I am wrong.

well, I don't know anything 'bout goldfinger, but when my ps don't recognize burned cd(I can listen music as if it was a music cd, though), I simply plug gameshark and start game from sharks menu. It somehow "forces" game to start.
