Default Watching videos on Matrix Infinity PS2 over USB.

So, I want to know is this even possible, and if it is, how can I pull this off? So I have a PS2 Slim SCPH-90004 with a Matrix Infinity 1.93 modchip. I would want to watch a couple of movies on my TV with a few friends this weekend but the only way to do this is from a PS2.

    SMS Player.
Not sure if you would need softmod to use it though, I never played anything but PS2 games via disc on my PS2 that has Matrix Infinity clone.

OK, do you have any advice on how to use it? I've heard of SMS player before, but I think it needs uLaunchElf to install.

As I said I never used my chipped PS2 for anything but playing PS2 backups, but afaik you can use homebrew with chipped consoles.

    Read Installing Homebrew on DEV1.

uLaunchElf is what it hints at, it just launches other elf files but uLaunchElf is an elf file itself so kind of redundant

All you need is a way to run an elf file (elf files are just PS2 executable files all games use those but instead of having .elf at the end they are named via the games code e.g. SLES#####.## # being a number)

Providing you have a way to run *.elf files from USB you are fine

If for any reason though that mod chip does not support loading from USB then look at something called FreeMCboot that is a form of softmod, that will allow easy loading from USB or IDE and can even add those to your PS2 home menu or to shortcut keys, it can be used fine along any sort of mod chip

I'm not sure he can install FMCB on SCPH-90004
Homebrew is usable with Matrix Infinity regardless of whether you can have softmod or not (that is PS2 versions that can't use FMCB).
If you don't have HDD (DEV2) then install homebrew on DEV1 (memory card).

Your correct my bad, yeah the SCPH-90004 blocks memcard exec's including FMCB

If needs be just use a CD/DVD as a boot disc for SMS Player, providing you can look at the USB port via that, not looked at SMS Player myself either so not that sure, making your own bootable PS2 CD or DVD is not that hard to do to be honest

If nothing else is on the DVD you just need the elf file and a cnf file that you can take from an ISO of a game, edit it in notepad so it points to the correct file (the elf file for SMS Player) and you are good to go

Yeah I missed that the first time I jumped into the thread too

With Matrix Infinity (or clone) you can boot elf on DEV1 or DEV2.
DEV1 (mc0) should be something like press R1 on boot.
DEV2 (HDD) should be something like press L1 on boot.

To get elf to DEV1 you can burn a CD or DVD and work from that.
